"What's wrong?" Luo Yi asked, watching Zhen Jianren beside him.
Not long ago, the two of them had met up in front of the main teaching building and were comparing the information they'd gathered. But then Zhen Jianren suddenly stopped.
The next second, he looked up and scanned their surroundings, his gaze sharp and wary.
Luo Yi seemed to sense something too. He followed Zhen Jianren's gaze and slowly searched the area.
Before them was a small park with a pond in the middle.
The pond had long since dried up, and a low fence surrounded it.
A flower bed made of red bricks stood to the right of the fence.
Farther east was a small copse of trees. But this time of year, most of the leaves had fallen, so they offered little cover. You could almost see straight through them.
Apart from the occasional teacher or student passing by, nothing nearby seemed out of place.
Luo Yi looked back at Zhen Jianren, puzzled. His lips parted slightly, but before he could speak, Zhen Jianren hesitantly said, "I suddenly got a really bad feeling just now."
The long hours of tension had left Luo Yi exhausted. He forced himself to stay alert and asked quietly, "About what?"
After a long silence, Zhen Jianren shook his head. "I don't know. Anyway, there's a good chance we're being watched by a ghost. We have to find a clue and get out of this place as soon as possible."
"What's the plan?"
"Let's split up." Zhen Jianren stood and looked at Luo Yi beside him. "Go to the Archive Room and see if you can find any records about the girl they mentioned. I'll notify the others."
"Let's meet in the music classroom in Building C at two this afternoon."
