Background / History
Judas is an Immortals Alliance leader associated with the Prison of Betrayers in the Nine Hells. He performs soul-separation rituals to search the Primordial Seed for devils, then uses them as cult totems, sources of divine flesh and blood, and ingredients for power-granting elixirs. 583
Five years before the events on Yuwen Island, Judas established himself as the islanders' Great Priest. He used modern agricultural, medical, and ecological knowledge to improve farming and livestock conditions, presenting those results as blessings from evil gods. He later negotiated a ritual requiring ninety-six human sacrifices—forty-eight men and forty-eight women—to create offerings for an evil god. 583
As the Alliance's helmsman, Judas built an extensive system around human-flesh trading, immortal-elixir workshops, local warlords, cults, and supernatural enforcers. He kept key assets centralized, balanced factions against one another, and used fear, profit, desire, and pain to keep subordinates obedient. 556 737 784
Judas viewed Dagda's Cauldron as a possible foundation for a new order, but initially hesitated to commit fully to what he considered an implausible legend. As the Alliance's position deteriorated, he increasingly relied on the Cauldron narrative and on the production of immortal pills to retain the loyalty of regional forces. 748 758
Appearance
Judas's ordinary physical appearance is deliberately unremarkable: a brown-skinned, black-haired man under 180 cm tall. He commonly conceals himself beneath a heavy cloak and a sub-gold mask, maintaining the image of a distant religious authority. 556 763
- His Soul Power avatar wears black-and-gray feathers and resembles a bird-headed, humanoid lammergeier. 773
- In the Nine Hells, his separated soul appears as a legless shadow in a smooth heavy robe, with a golden mask and dark-green lips. 583
- Skyborn·Heavenly Bestowal can restore him in different bodies, including a brown-skinned young man in streetwear and a bearded French Foreign Corps veteran designated PTX7745. 764 780
- He was seen wearing a golden kasaya and with a shaved head during the final war around Ax Peak Mountain. 809
Personality
Judas is meticulous, anxious, and intensely self-preserving. He treats most Alliance members as replaceable tools, assigning people according to their usefulness while withholding his trust and true capabilities. 556
Though he projects authority as a cult patriarch, he avoids direct combat whenever possible. He prefers contracts, manipulation, proxies, commercial arrangements, and psychological pressure; when confronted with violence he cannot control, he becomes visibly frightened and will discard dignity, promises, and allies to survive. 768 770 771
His fear of Gunsmith is especially pronounced. Gunsmith's spirit reminds him of Ming De, and Judas becomes agitated at the possibility of an enemy acting outside his calculations. 583 His ideology is correspondingly nihilistic: life is cruel, strength determines survival, and power exists to control others. 782
“Humans live by their fear. Because they fear natural enemies, they have survived to this day by constantly eliminating them.” 583
Abilities & Skills
Turn It Into Gold / Midas Touch
Judas's Soul Power manifests as a vigilant lammergeier-like Spirit Body, also called Turn It Into Gold or Midas Touch. It usually guards him without verbal commands and produces an oppressive spiritual pressure. 773
- Can kill through close Spirit Body contact; a kiss or touch can reduce a victim to ruined flesh. 768
- Can heal injuries, as when Judas healed an injured boatman. 772
- Can separate and purify sub-gold elements, which are used to preserve elixirs and stabilize Blood-giving Monsters. 758
- Can empower subordinates through spiritual mediums; the Jade Pure Bottle stores Judas's Soul Power for others to wield. 653
- Requires close engagement for its most lethal use, a condition Judas avoids due to his fear of direct fighting. 768
Soul Separation and Devil Alchemy
Judas repeatedly separates his soul from his body to enter spiritual realms and seek devils within the Primordial Seed. 583
- Creates idols and faith totems from devils.
- Obtains divine flesh, blood, and primordial matter for elixir production.
- Uses elixirs such as the Egg of Chaos to grant spiritual energy and create blood-infused monstrosities. 583
- Maintains communication across Shambhala through Chaos Eggs modified to use pheromones as a medium. 617
Golden Visages and Immortal Embryo Control
Judas uses sub-gold spiritual-medium props—golden visages, scrolls, and related implements—to distribute power and control dangerous creatures. 753
- Can bestow Soul Power upon followers through golden-visage mediums. 753
- Uses the four scrolls and five ends to control Wings of Light and prepare vessels for Immortal Embryos. 753
- Can employ Immortal Embryos and Giant offspring as regional religious idols, demons, cages, or military assets. 674
Life-Preserving Feathers
Judas's survival depends on three interconnected “life-preserving feathers,” whose time- and space-related powers form a stable protective triangle around him. 765
- Goliath Sebastian / Sing For Me — grants fate alteration and divination of fortune. 765
- Wood Abby / A Way Out·Life Path — enables rapid movement, injury recovery, and escape into temporal loops or spatial cracks. 754 765
- Fay Florosaline / Skyborn·Heavenly Bestowal — summons suitable beings from other worlds into FE33031, allowing Judas to recur in new bodies. 763 765
- Reconstructed versions retain aspects of Judas's memories and Soul Power configuration, but may initially possess distinct personalities or confusion. 764 778
Equipment / Items
- Sub-gold mask — conceals his expression and reinforces his religious image. 763
- Jade Pure Bottle — a spiritual medium containing Judas's Soul Power for use by subordinates. 653
- Golden visages, scrolls, and Blood Butterfly Bible components — used to command Immortal Embryos and distribute power. 753
- Chaos Eggs — pheromone-based communication devices used by the Alliance across Shambhala. 617
- Immortal pills / Sacred Blood Immortal Pills — restore or reconstruct his body through Fay's resurrection system. 781 783
- Polaroid and photo-emulsion sheets — accessed through Fay to enter or escape through Wood's A Way Out spatial-temporal mechanisms. 781
Relationships
- Fay Florosaline — Judas's most trusted confidante and final life-preserving feather; she advises him in the Nine Hells and enables his rebirths, but ultimately prioritizes her own survival over his. 583 763 781
- Wood Abby — subordinate, researcher, and second life-preserving feather. Judas considers Wood a useful tool and repeatedly pressures him to abandon his personal research. 754 763
- Gunsmith / Jiang Xueming — primary enemy. Judas fears Gunsmith's spirit, is ambushed and killed by him, and is later repeatedly executed during interrogation. 583 764 782
- Billy Horn — initially a target of manipulation and recruitment. Billy eventually resists Judas's spiritual pressure, identifies his Gate of Death, and kills one incarnation. 774 779
- Fuyanni — Judas exploits Fuyanni's insecurity and desire for recognition, attempting to draw him into the Guiyi Sect. 773 774
- Ming De — long-standing rival whose modern military power and ideology threaten Judas's entire system of rule. 583 737
- John D. Jody — Alliance operative Judas assigned to pursue a method of locating Gunsmith's spiritual body through Berloberg's sword spirit. 583
- Fret Caesar and Gloria Sebastian — agents whose contractual balance Judas maintained through devil-commanding papers, curses, and supplied soul-artifact materials. 722 726
Story Role / Major Arcs
Nine Hells and Yuwen Island
Judas observes Gunsmith's spirit in the Nine Hells and panics over its unexplained pursuit of Saint Josh Joris. He orders Fay to find a way to seal or control Gunsmith's spiritual body, while continuing to oversee cult sacrifices and elixir operations in the human world. 583
Shambhala Power Structure
Judas governs Shambhala through cults, local militias, elixir caves, Giant offspring, Blood-giving Monsters, and proxy wars. His system begins to weaken as modern weapons, communications, and organized forces undermine the isolated society he depends on. 674 737
First Assassination and Rebirth
After leaving Aizong Mausoleum, Judas is ambushed by Gunsmith's Dust Crystal arrow bombs enhanced with Eye Of The Storm. His body and Spirit Body are destroyed, but Fay activates Skyborn·Heavenly Bestowal, producing Judas No. 168 in a new body. 764
The Blood Hawk Voyage
Stranded with Fay, Billy, and Fuyanni amid Blood Hawk attacks, Judas alternates between healing, bargaining, deception, recruitment, and cowardice. He attempts to exploit Billy's attachment to Fay and Fuyanni's hunger for recognition, but loses control as both men resist him. 770 772 774
Repeated Deaths at Kaiwu Hall
Billy kills Judas by using Echoism·Phantom Voice to expose his Gate of Death. Fay later summons further incarnations, including PTX7745, but abandons Judas to preserve herself when prophecy shows his defeat. Gunsmith corners the resurrected Judas at Kaiwu Hall and repeatedly kills him while interrogating him about the Guiyi Sect and Dagda's Cauldron. 779 781 782 783
Danqiu War and Collapse
As Fast Knife forces advance, Judas attempts peace talks at Lingyang Ferry. He uses Danqiu's civilians as hostages and tries to exhaust Su Xingchen through prolonged negotiations, but the Traffic Department turns the talks into psychological warfare against him. 799 801 804
By the assault on Ax Peak Mountain, Judas's avatars, followers, and alchemical infrastructure are collapsing. His remaining followers continue to await transcendence, while later Alliance remnants report that “Reverend Judas is dead.” 810 812
Trivia
- Judas works approximately sixteen hours a day managing Alliance affairs, cult operations, and alchemical sites. 583
- He never revealed his true Soul Power to most Alliance members, including strategist Pellegrini Tuon. 556
- Despite possessing immense destructive potential, Judas openly regards himself as a businessman rather than a fighter. 768
- His greatest strategic weakness is his need to personally manage an increasingly unstable empire; by the Danqiu war, administrative overload contributes to his mental deterioration. 801 804
