Tonight was the first event held by the Dueling Club initiated by Professor Lockhart.
To accommodate more students, Professor Lockhart had specially chosen the largest classroom, one large enough to hold the entire school.
The classroom was already packed, and it seemed that every student in the school had come.
There were not many entertainment activities at Hogwarts, and no one wanted to miss an opportunity like this to watch some excitement.
There were no desks or chairs in the classroom. Instead, a square dueling platform had been set up.
"I hope the professors have a match," Fred said. He loved watching trouble unfold, and he disliked both professors on the stage. No matter which one embarrassed himself, Fred would applaud.
"Yeah, yeah, the professors should give us a demonstration first," George echoed.
Matthew looked toward the stage. Lockhart had changed into an exceptionally eye-catching purple robe today, forming a stark contrast with Snape, who stood beside him in black robes.
Snape stood there expressionlessly, completely ignoring Lockhart's attempts to strike up a conversation.
Lockhart was beginning to regret it. When he had invited Snape to take part in the Dueling Club, Snape had agreed very quickly. Lockhart had assumed Snape would be willing to cooperate with him.
Who would have thought things would turn out somewhat differently from what he had expected? Snape clearly did not look like he wanted to cooperate.
But it did not matter. He was very confident now. Handling a Snape would not be a problem.
Seeing that nearly all the students had arrived, Lockhart strode forward and waved for everyone to quiet down.
"Today is the Dueling Club's first event. I will train you thoroughly, equipping you with the means to protect yourselves, just as I have done countless times."
