Professor McGonagall could not help feeling speechless at the two idiots by the door. How had the Ministry of Magic sent such useless fools to manage the Dementors?
Although the Dementors were targeting those two fools, the students standing around the edges were far too close and could easily be affected.
She had to act. Those two fools were completely unreliable.
Just as she drew her wand and prepared to cast the Patronus Charm, cries of alarm came from the students at the door.
Then, a blinding blue light instantly illuminated the corridor.
"Expecto Patronum!"
The blue light blasted through the gathered Dementors at the entrance, sending the entire group flying.
As the blue glow dimmed slightly, the ball of light condensed into a huge beast that looked neither quite like a tiger nor quite like a lion.
The beast pounced forward, crashing into the Dementor swarm like a bulldozer.
"Hiss—" The Dementors struck by the beast became several degrees more insubstantial.
Dozens of Dementors fled in panic.
Matthew waved his wand and dispelled the Patronus.
He had noticed the Dementors acting strangely long ago, and their disturbance was because two Dementors had gone missing from their group.
Dementors are surprisingly united. Just two missing, and they've made such a huge fuss, Matthew thought to himself.
A few days ago, after capturing one Dementor to make Potions, he had caught another for spell experiments.
"You've already learned the Patronus Charm? Professor Kettleburn has only been teaching it for a few days!" Marcus exclaimed. Several Quidditch players stood behind him.
They had been planning to head outside to the pitch for Quidditch practice, only to be blocked here by the Dementor swarm.
Matthew smiled and nodded. "I happened to grasp a few tricks, so I learned it."
Malfoy's eyes lit up.
