Professor Binns's voice in History of Magic was enough to make anyone drowsy.
Normally, Ron would use History of Magic to catch up on sleep. Professor Binns's lectures were simply too sleep-inducing; not taking a nap would be a terrible waste.
Yet in this History of Magic class, Ron unusually did not lie on his desk and sleep. He had placed a newspaper on his lap, and his left hand occasionally swiped across it.
It was a product of Magic Age Media Company, the "Magic Newspaper." For the price of a single newspaper, readers could see far more content than in a traditional paper.
Most importantly, the Magic Newspaper had a dedicated reading column, and Ron's favorite was Wandering with Gryffindor.
It told the story of Matthew Black traveling back a thousand years and wandering and adventuring with Godric Gryffindor.
The story was far more exciting than when Matthew told it himself. Once Ron started reading, he simply could not stop.
"Arthur, what are you reading?"
Just as Ron became engrossed in the story, Professor Binns's voice sounded beside his ear.
As usual, Professor Binns had called a student by the wrong name.
Ron was so frightened that he tried to stuff the newspaper into his robes, but Professor Binns was floating right beside him and had already seen the paper on his lap.
In his panic, Ron inadvertently glanced at the open book on his desk. An idea immediately struck him, and he blurted out, "Professor Binns, I'm looking up information. Look, this describes an ancient wizard market. I think it's fascinating—Muggle merchants and wizard merchants selling things in the same market."
Professor Binns leaned closer and glanced at what Ron was pointing to.
