Once he had recovered, Matthew headed to the Mountain Range Region.
The temperature here was low, and it grew colder the higher the altitude.
Matthew flew low over the ground, having already entered a world of ice and snow.
Below him lay a frozen river. Its ice was so thick that even stamping hard on it would not leave a mark.
Yet even through such thick, unyielding ice, he could hear a gentle burbling if he listened closely.
It was the sound of the river flowing beneath the ice.
The Mountain Range Region and the Rainforest Region were like two extremes. There were very few living creatures here, and Matthew had traveled quite some distance without encountering a single one.
But Matthew knew where to find mutated creatures. This was not his first visit. He had come here once as a Level One Wizard and encountered an extremely troublesome enemy at a high altitude.
Matthew soon spotted some creatures along the way: snow elves living in caves.
Snow elves looked much like humans, except their entire bodies were snow-white. Their hair, skin, and even their pupils were all white.
Snow elves corrupted by gray fog, however, had crimson eyes and claws, making them easy to recognize.
A group of mutant snow elves spotted Matthew and charged at him as he flew low over the ground.
Matthew twisted aside to dodge the Ice Cones the mutant snow elves spat at him, then made a grasping motion toward them.
A giant hand of flame instantly appeared in the air. It crushed three mutant snow elves at once, and the blood that splattered out evaporated in the flames.
Snow elves feared high temperatures. Although the remaining mutant snow elves had lost their reason, instinct still drove them to flee from the flaming hand
