This clutch of Occamy eggs was not native to this place.
Newt had rescued them from a group of poachers.
Occamy eggshells were made of pure silver, so wild Occamy nests were often targeted by poachers.
The mother Occamy had already been killed by the poachers, which was why Matthew had not seen the mother of this clutch.
Baby Occamies were voracious eaters from the moment they hatched. Matthew had fed it a full half-pound of minced meat before it was satisfied.
After eating its fill, the baby Occamy quieted down, curled into a ball in its nest, and could not be bothered to move.
In appearance, an Occamy's head resembled that of a bird, with a beak like those of eagles and falcons. It was clearly a carnivore at a glance.
Its body, meanwhile, was that of a blue-green serpent, with a pair of wings growing around the seven-inch mark. However, it had only just hatched, so its wings were rather bare and its feathers had not fully grown in.
Newt took a coin-sized spherical object from his pocket. Its interior was hollowed out. "Occamies like burrowing into holes, and they can expand or contract at will, adjusting their size according to the available space."
Newt turned the hollow side toward the baby Occamy and slowly moved it closer.
Upon noticing the object in Newt's hand, the baby Occamy immediately sprang into the air, rapidly shrank, and slipped into the spherical object.
Newt handed the spherical object to Matthew. "This is a miniature bird's nest I made. It is very convenient to carry."
Matthew accepted the miniature nest and said with a smile, "Thank you very much, Professor Scamander."
Newt clapped his hands and called into the sky, "Jona, come back and eat!"
