"Wasn't it luck?" Matthew asked with interest.
"Africa's magical systems are complex. As the only magical school in Africa, Uagadou naturally incorporates many different magical traditions," Isis said. "All things have spirits. Through Witch Spirits, we can communicate with everything and track where the puzzle pieces appear."
"All things have spirits? An interesting magical philosophy." Matthew said, "I've read about Witch Spirits before. It wasn't limited to Africa—many regions had rituals worshipping Witch Spirits during their tribal eras."
"Worshipping Witch Spirits was indeed common in tribal times, but our Witch Spirits are not that kind." Isis shook the Eye of Horus ornament on her wrist. "This is my Witch Spirit Artifact."
"Oh?" Matthew looked at the ornament on Isis's wrist. To his Magic Sense, it was merely an ordinary Alchemical Product; he could not sense any so-called Witch Spirit.
Isis explained, "Unlike the tribal practice of worshipping Witch Spirits, we use our own magic to cultivate them."
"All things have spirits. By nourishing them with magic, we allow Witch Spirits to be born within objects."
"The primary purpose of a Witch Spirit born within an object is to assist me in casting Magic. Communicating with other spirits is more of an additional function, though it can be quite useful. For example, when searching for puzzle pieces this time, I can ask the Castle Spirit where the puzzle pieces have appeared."
Matthew asked curiously, "Hogwarts Castle actually has consciousness?"
"It cannot really be considered an independent consciousness, only instinctive feedback. The longer a spirit has existed, the more distinct its feedback becomes," Isis said. "Hogwarts Castle has existed for a thousand years, so its feedback is quite clear."
Matthew stroked his chin. "Then the reason you cast Magic through gestures is also because of Witch Spirits?"
"That is how we communicate
