After testing the effectiveness of the black dragon wing membrane, Matthew and Sirius returned to the factory area.
"What grade would you say this black dragon wing membrane is?" Matthew asked a researcher from the Runic Magic Applications Department.
After Sirius had tried using it once, the wear on the black dragon wing membrane was barely noticeable.
Black dragon wing membranes could be reused. The older the Hebridean Black Dragon, the thicker its wing membranes, and the thicker the membranes, the more times they could be reused.
"This black dragon wing membrane came from a thirty-year-old Hebridean Black Dragon," the researcher said. "Our tests confirmed that for roughly every five years a Hebridean Black Dragon grows, its wing membranes become thick enough for one additional use. This membrane can probably be reused around six times."
"It takes five years for a wing membrane to grow thick enough for one use?" Sirius said in surprise. "Then the cost of mass-producing them through breeding farms won't be low!"
Hebridean Black Dragons were also enormous carnivores with demanding habitat requirements, so breeding them was far from cheap.
"This is still the raw material. After processing, we may be able to increase the number of times black dragon wing membranes can be reused. We're still researching that," the researcher continued. "And the wings of an adult Hebridean Black Dragon can be cut into dozens of twenty-inch wing membranes."
"This is a direction worth researching. Raise this project's priority. I think we can temporarily call this thing a 'Magic Scroll,'" Matthew said.
A twenty-inch black dragon wing membrane was enough to hold a first- to third-tier Runic Magic spell model, and it could be activated simply by injecting magic power into it. Its value was no less than the Wizarding World's "Magic Stone Engraving."
