Cassandra's voice trembled as she recalled that harrowing encounter. "That monster was unbelievably powerful. My spells and the Muggles' firearms were nothing more than a tickle to it, and its scales were indestructible. Its fingers could stretch to an unimaginable length. The wound on my shoulder was pierced by those terrifying fingers. Many people in the base fell victim to it..."

She took a deep breath and continued, "Later, some survivors and I escaped the temporary base in an expedition vehicle. We originally had two vehicles, but a sudden blizzard forced us apart. Not long after, our vehicle broke down as well, and we had no choice but to abandon it and continue on foot. If you hadn't appeared, we might really have died here."

Matthew nodded. That explained why he had not found the monster within his sensing range—Cassandra and the others had already driven far away.

"Did you lose your wand?" Matthew asked.

"My wand was broken during the fight with the monster," Cassandra said dejectedly. "My shoulder was injured too. It all happened so suddenly that I didn't even have time to grab my Undetectable Extension Charm backpack. Otherwise, we wouldn't have escaped in such a sorry state."

Minutes later, under the effects of the Potions, Cassandra recovered some of her energy. Matthew decided to leave the transformed house as it was and let the unconscious Muggles remain there for the time being. The indoor environment was relatively safe.
