Three days later.
A giant Basilisk traveled through Green Mist Marsh. It dove when it encountered water, wound its way through forests, and climbed over mountains.
The smaller wild creatures they encountered along the way did not dare provoke such a colossal beast, allowing them to travel unimpeded.
After losing their guide, Matthew and the others actually traveled a little faster than before with the Basilisk.
The only problem was finding their direction. Matthew felt they had already strayed from their original route and could only continue in the general direction.
The Basilisk swam to a marshy area. Once it neared the shore, it opened its mouth, and Matthew and Fili walked out.
Every so often, they had to come out and use a direction-finding Wizard Tool to check their route, lest they stray too far off course.
A silver-gray chain was wrapped around Fili's glove, with a needle-shaped pendant attached to it.
She climbed onto the Basilisk's head, spread her palm downward, and let the needle-shaped pendant hang as she silently thought of the direction she wanted to go.
A moment later, the needle-shaped pendant trembled slightly, then suddenly tilted upward at a ninety-degree angle and stood horizontally. After spinning several times, its tip stopped pointing to the left.
"Green Mist Forest is on the left." Fili removed the chain wrapped around her arm and put away the needle-shaped pendant.
"To the left?" Matthew took out the map and examined it. A marsh like this was likely marked on the map and could serve as a reference point.
Matthew recalled the path the Basilisk had taken, estimated their current location, and circled a marsh on the map.
"We should be here right now." Matthew pointed at a marsh on the map.
Every so often, he would roughly mark their
