The plan to capture Red Faction's Berserker, Spartacus, had concluded perfectly. They had even nearly managed to keep Red Faction's Rider and Archer within his territory, where the spikes would have killed them as well.
What a pity.
Shirou returned from the forest shortly afterward.
The first thing he noticed was the already-captured Berserker, and he froze for a moment.
"Assassin, your abilities are truly astonishing." Gord came running over, panting heavily as he wiped away his sweat. Saber beside him also nodded to Shirou.
Saber's expression was no longer quite so stiff. It seemed that her relationship with Gord had improved somewhat.
"Saber's Master, good evening," Shirou greeted him.
He did not have a bad impression of the man. Aside from Gord being rather fat, which was unusual among magi.
At the very least, his moral standards were fairly high—at least by normal human standards.
"Good evening! Speaking of which, my Saber just worked with Rider to subdue Red Faction's Berserker. Look, he seems to be called Spartacus. What an impressive big fellow."
Gord could not help but sigh in admiration.
Rider Astolfo also ran over, boasting about his achievements.
"Assassin, did you see that? I put in a lot of effort to catch him. Hehe, I'm Rider, one of the Twelve Paladins of Charlemagne!"
"Oh—how impressive." Shirou clapped politely, but then clenched his fists.
Spartacus?
Seeing that everyone had already greeted Shirou, Lancer praised him. "Assassin, as expected of you."
"Unfortunately, I failed to deal with Red Faction's Archer." Shirou shook his head.
"It does not matter. Tomorrow, and even the day after tomorrow, Red Faction's Archer will find it difficult to play any major role." Vlad the Impaler III looked toward the castle from atop his horse. It was time to return.
