"She didn't listen at all." Jeanne d'Arc covered her face. "Assassin, say something to her too... Sigh, forget it. She's just copying you, isn't she? Assassin, prepare something for her to eat."

"That can be done, but before that, Master, give her a name."

"Hm? Assassin, didn't you always refuse to name her before? You kept making excuses." Jeanne d'Arc looked at Shirou suspiciously.

"That was because her life had yet to hold any meaning. She hadn't experienced anything. I didn't know what name could accompany her for the rest of her life, but now I do." Shirou looked into his Master's eyes. "Inherit that person's name. You will be called Sieg."

Amakusa's Resolve

—The world is beautiful. Someone once said that.

Ever-changing white clouds, an azure sky, ancient trees so majestic they nearly inspired a sense of holiness, tender buds exuding a fresh fragrance...

There was no need to speak of nature's beautiful scenery. Even great cities, where humanity struggled endlessly to survive, possessed an artificial beauty sufficient to conceal their ugliness.

This world was not easy at all. Rather, even merely staying alive was incredibly difficult. Herbivores were preyed upon by carnivores, carnivores died beneath human firearms, and humans in turn fell to certain inhuman beings.

And even inhuman beings—could lose to ordinary humans. Victors would one day become losers. We had to accept the cruelty of this absolute and despairing world.

This world would become better and better. From the savagery of the past, from an era when commoners could not fill their bellies, it had become a time when everyone could eat and live happy lives.

But the Third Holy Grail War shattered his optimism.
