Sakura denied it. "Impossible. The door was only just created. No living beings could have entered before us, unless they were something that existed in the maze from the beginning—or victims who failed to escape to the old school building."

Hakuno could not help feeling downcast. She recalled the Shadows constantly surging forward in the old school building, the students crying out in agony, while she had been utterly powerless to save anyone. She had not been able to save even one person.

"Master, are you listening? What Sakura is saying is important."

Hakuno came to her senses and looked toward the monitor. "Archer, I'm listening."

Sakura continued, "That is roughly the situation. But it is strange. These life signs cannot be read for IDs, and their memory addresses cannot be found either. Their current status is unknown. Can you see the map? The area around Hakuno can be read."

Shirou finally let out the breath he had been holding.
