In the afternoon, Blind Liu didn't plan to set up his stall again. After lunch, Liu Mumu was getting ready to go home for a nap, but as soon as she stepped outside, she saw two police cars pull up.
The police cars stopped outside, and she watched in surprise as Fang Chuan got out.
The two stared at each other through the gate, both looking bewildered.
"What are you doing here?" Fang Chuan asked in confusion.
"Having lunch. And you're... here to arrest someone?" The sight made her a little uneasy.
Could Blind Liu have been caught secretly doing something illegal?
"There's a case involving Mr. Liu. We need him to cooperate with our investigation. Could you open the gate for us?"
Hearing the commotion, Blind Liu came out. He didn't seem particularly surprised to see the police outside. He told Liu Mumu to open the gate and invite them in, clearly experienced at dealing with the police.
Liu Mumu had been planning to go home, but in the end she followed them inside. Fang Chuan didn't object.
"Please, have a seat. Is there anything this old man can help you with?" After pouring everyone some water, Blind Liu sat across from Fang Chuan and spoke with complete cooperation.
Fang Chuan placed about a dozen photographs in front of Blind Liu. "Please take a look, Mr. Liu, and tell us whether any of these people came to you for a fortune reading."
The photos showed both men and women, most of them somewhat older. Blind Liu picked them up and studied them for a while. Fang Chuan and the others waited quietly, without disturbing him.
Liu Mumu sat on the arm of Blind Liu's sofa and looked through the photos with him. Then she let out a soft, "Huh."
