Yveta hesitated. He and Pan had been enemies before, and now he was asking one of those enemies to divine his future.

He cautiously prepared to refuse.

Who knew what the other man might slip into the reading to mislead him?

But then the Hearthstone Great Witch suddenly said, "Your Grace, accept."

"I know this method of divination."

"I just can't use the Oak Leaf Divination Method because I can't communicate with..."

"But I can at least tell whether it's genuine. These people's divinations are useful. You might as well let him try."

Yveta knew the Old Witch meant the Spirit of Nature. She was simply clever enough not to say it aloud.

He nodded to Pan. "Then what should I do?"

Pan said to Yveta, "First, you need to find where you want to go."

"This is the part where we pinpoint it."

"Look at these six oak leaves. Which one do you want most?"

Yveta looked down at the six leaves on the stone they were using as a makeshift table. To his eyes, the veins on their surfaces looked almost identical.

Yveta was utterly baffled.

Were these six leaves really any different?

Pan coughed to hurry him along, then said, "Don't think about it rationally. You'll never get an answer that way."

"It's like trying to count the dust in the air with your naked eyes. You'll never figure out how many specks there are."

"You have to use your feelings, your intuition."

Pan quickly picked up on a few subtle clues and realized Yveta had received an academic education much like the one taught in Academy City. This surprised him slightly.

Still, he assumed Yveta had simply received that training while he was a prince.
