Background

Long before the conflict at Moro Baron Territory, Pan guided exceptional human heroes and enjoyed fostering promising young people. He later recalls that he was not originally humanity's enemy, though his responsibilities ultimately bound him to larger Druid plans. 60

During the siege of Baron Moro's Castle, Pan led the Children of the Forest while attempting to avert a prophecy of their extinction or subjugation. He prohibited indiscriminate human bloodshed before the Thousand Year Fire was extinguished, then directed a siege intended to force the defenders outside the castle. 55 56

Pan personally supported the assault with redwood growth and a hornet-summoning ritual. Yveta disrupted the ritual by using a Charm Curse on a wounded Minotaur, who struck Pan in the chest; the uncontrolled hornets then attacked the Minotaurs. Rather than rage at the setback, Pan recognized Yveta as an unusually capable human opponent and withdrew to regroup. 60

Soon afterward, Pan sought aid from hidden Druid beings through the Druid Chief Priest Ring. They revealed that Yveta was the Ring-Bearer chosen by both the Ring-Holding Elder and the Crow of Fate, ordering Pan to negotiate with him rather than oppose him. Pan consequently enabled a peace agreement between Yveta and the Children of the Forest. 64 65

Pan performed an Oak Leaf divination for Yveta, initially mistaking Yveta's inability to distinguish the leaves for poor aptitude. He realized Yveta had instead touched Pan's concealed fate through the Golden Fleece's protection, demonstrating abnormal divination talent. 68

Appearance

Pan is described as possessing a primal, wild beauty that conceals an intimidating presence. His gaze exerts immediate pressure on both humans and Children of the Forest. 65

  • Goat horns and a distinctly non-human appearance. 192
  • Referred to as a goat-headed person during the Moro siege. 60
  • Eyes capable of making nearby professionals feel stiff, sluggish, and drawn toward misfortune. 65
  • A shadow that can independently hold objects, including the Knight Sword of Slaughtering Ten Cities. 131

Personality

Pan is calculating, patient, and highly conscious of long-term consequences. He restrains the Children of the Forest's urge to slaughter humans because doing so could fulfill the prophecy threatening their people, even when their leaders demand immediate violence. 55 56

He habitually addresses Yveta as a friend despite their mutual distrust, using friendliness, historical knowledge, and carefully chosen favors to move negotiations in his preferred direction. Yveta considers him a figure who approaches others as a friend while concealing the benefits he seeks. 130 173

Pan respects ability regardless of origin. Being wounded by Yveta's plan rekindles his interest in cultivating remarkable humans, and he repeatedly acknowledges Yveta's magical talent and strategic value. 60 205

Abilities & Skills

Druidic Nature Magic

Pan commands ancient Druidic and Agricultural-and-Pastoral powers connected to forests, animals, and plant life.

  • Summons redwood saplings through an ancient language of the former God of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry. 60
  • Can summon hornet swarms as a battlefield weapon. The ritual can be interrupted if Pan is attacked while casting. 60
  • Uses a leaf melody to put soldiers and castle inhabitants to sleep; the lullaby does not affect non-living water elementals. 173
  • Can cause a leaf to retain a trace of divine power. 173
  • His power grows alongside the returning Great Redwood Tree Sea. 156 173

Transformation and Resilience

Pan can evade lethal injury by transforming his body into plant matter.

  • When pierced through the chest by a Great Knight, his body rapidly became a wooden figure before growing roots, branches, and leaves. 192
  • Can take Treant form in combat, though he avoids direct confrontation when outnumbered by powerful cavalry. 192

Divination and Prophetic Concealment

Pan is an expert diviner who uses Oak Leaf Divination and possesses unusual protection from prophecy.

  • Reads fate through six oak leaves and can divine destinations, threats, and favorable paths. 67 68
  • Wove protection for his fate using the Golden Fleece, preventing ordinary people from touching or harming it through divination. 68
  • Uses God Concealment, a Druid ability that renders him effectively transparent to prophetic systems and suppresses conventional divination against him. 156
  • States that Druidic prophetic ability can suppress that of other professions. 156

Perception and Magical Analysis

Pan rapidly identifies the principles and weaknesses of unfamiliar magic.

  • Deduced the ocean-linked recovery mechanism of Yveta's mutated water elementals after observing them reform. 173
  • Determined that Blood Magic sacrifices could counter the elementals' recovery, and recognized the danger of that knowledge reaching the Graveyard. 173
  • Identified Toad Grass and its body-nourishing properties on sight. 178
  • Holds extensive knowledge of ancient civilizations, the Thousand Year Fire, Druid crowns, fairies, and Puss in Boots' past. 67 130 175 176

Equipment & Items

  • Druid Chief Priest Ring — Appears as a gray stone ring before revealing its true form as a green vine ring; used to summon hidden Druid beings. 64
  • Dagger blessed by the Iron Thorn Fairy — A dagger intended to kill Pan with certainty. Its wish failed to grant anyone else the ability to wield it, though Yveta was unexpectedly able to lift it. 175
  • Fire Elemental Plane Crown — Retrieved from the underground temple before Pan opened the Water Elemental Plane and began preparing to restart the Recreate Nature Plan. 231

Relationships

  • Yveta — Initially besieges Yveta's castle and treats him as an enemy, but is ordered by the Druids to negotiate with the Ring-Bearer. Their relationship becomes a wary, shifting alliance shaped by shared enemies and incompatible goals. 60 64 173 293
  • Children of the Forest — Ancient Soul and strategic leader who guides their siege, negotiation, and response to the Temple prophecy. His authority is influential but constrained by their weak hierarchy and loyalty to other Ancient Souls. 55 56 60
  • Spirit of Nature and hidden Druid beings — Pan answers their command to cease opposing Yveta and support the Ring-Bearer for the Druids' greater interests. 64
  • Puss in Boots — An old acquaintance who calls Pan “Peter” and openly blames him for Yveta's misfortunes. Pan nevertheless cooperates with Puss in Boots to restore Yveta's human consciousness. 219
  • Hearthstone Witch — Cooperates with Pan during the campaign against the Graveyard and later travels with him in southern Ambrose, though her independent actions create friction. 191 206
  • Chief Druid / Lion King — Pan acts as an intermediary when the Chief Druid approaches Emperor Yveta to discuss Druid interests. 555
