Elixir to induce euphoria

Anduin had no intention of considering Buffy-Brain Potion or Veritaserum. Buffy-Brain Potion required particularly high-quality ingredients; even slightly subpar ingredients could easily damage the brain. As for why he wasn't making Veritaserum, the reason was the same as with healing potions: what normal, good-aligned wizard would need the stuff?

That left only Elixir to induce euphoria and Everlasting Potion to consider. Everlasting Potion was described as a potion that never ran out. That wasn't quite accurate, though. In Anduin's view, it was more like an additive.

For most Potions, all you had to do was pour in some Everlasting Potion to turn it into the corresponding potion. Take Veritaserum, for example: as long as more than a quarter of the bottle remained, adding Everlasting Potion would turn it back into a full bottle. Apart from a few rare Potions like Felix Felicis, Everlasting Potion could perfectly replace them, and its effects lasted an extremely long time.

However, several ingredients in Everlasting Potion were difficult to obtain, and they were expensive to buy outside school, making the cost a little too high.

Elixir to induce euphoria was also in a category of potions with high demand. It could put the drinker in a cheerful mood, and during wartime, many wizards used it to relieve stress. The other ingredients were nothing special, but its main ingredient was a whole Mandrake Fruit, which was also rather expensive outside school.

"Wait." Anduin suddenly remembered something and turned to Hagrid. "Hagrid, I remember you told me last time that you'd seen lots of Mandrake Fruits in the Forbidden Forest that were about to ripen?"

"Uh, yeah. I did see a patch of Mandrakes when we were training in the Forbidden Forest. They're fruiting right about now." Hagrid burped and answered Anduin.

After hearing Hagrid confirm it, Anduin said, "Well, Hagrid, when are you going into the Forbidden Forest next? Could I come with you? I want to collect some Mandrake Fruits."

As soon as Hagrid heard that Anduin wanted to enter the Forbidden Forest, he shook his head. "No. The Forbidden Forest is very dangerous. This isn't a joke. If you got hurt in there, I'd have no way to explain it to the school."

Then Hagrid thought for a moment and added, "If you just want Mandrake Fruits, I can pick some for you next time. I wouldn't feel right letting you go into the Forbidden Forest."

"Really? That'd be fantastic. But they need to be the light purple Enchanted Mandrake Fruits, and they have to be whole." Anduin couldn't help feeling delighted when he heard Hagrid was willing to help.

"Don't worry. I know the Forbidden Forest like the back of my hand, and I know what Mandrake Fruits look like. Next time you come over, I promise I'll get you a whole basket." Hagrid assured Anduin confidently.

Anduin happily breathed a sigh of relief. It seemed he had no problem getting the ingredients for Elixir to induce euphoria. He thanked Hagrid again.

With that worry off his mind, Anduin chatted with Hagrid for a while before heading back to the castle.

A few weeks later, Anduin watched as Hagrid brought out a large basket of Mandrake Fruits. There had to be at least a dozen. He couldn't help thinking that Hagrid was the real hidden millionaire. With such a huge Forbidden Forest at his disposal, he could make a fortune just by selling ingredients if he wanted to.

Anduin didn't take the basket of Mandrake Fruits back to his dormitory. He certainly couldn't brew Potions there, and sneaking off to make them in the Potions Classroom wasn't a good idea either. He planned to take his cauldron and tools to Hagrid's place another day and brew them there.

For now, he needed to memorize the brewing process for Elixir to induce euphoria and learn how to select and prepare the ingredients, to ensure a successful brew.

After returning to his dormitory, Anduin opened the sixth-year textbook belonging to that pretentious prince. He'd found the recipe for Elixir to induce euphoria in it, but before, he'd only skimmed the recipe and hadn't carefully read the instructions for preparing the ingredients or the cautions.

"Adding a tiny sprig of peppermint will significantly improve the effects of Elixir to induce euphoria? Really?" Anduin realized that this "Prince" liked slipping in his own ideas. He'd extensively revised the methods for preparing many ingredients and the recipes in the textbook. This made Anduin rather interested in the "Prince," and he thought he'd try the Prince's method when he brewed the potion.

After reading the section on Elixir to induce euphoria, Anduin didn't stop. He'd found that the "Half-Blood Prince" had a good deal of insight into many aspects of Potions, but he couldn't tell whether the Prince was just arrogantly making things up. So he decided to carefully read the textbook from the beginning.

"Sectumsempra Spell? That sounds pretty intimidating." Anduin discovered that the book contained not only plenty of notes on Potions, but also a spell.

"Is it a finished spell, a Semi-finished Product, or just something made up? It'd be dangerous to cast it casually." Anduin had no plans to try the spell for now. Until he knew more about this "Prince," it was best not to mess with something unfamiliar. If this so-called "Prince" was a lunatic, that one spell could be enough to kill him.

Soon, another weekend arrived. Anduin packed his cauldron, the extra ingredients and tools he needed for brewing, and some glass bottles. He also brought some peppermint and the sixth-year textbook, then set off for Hagrid's Hut again.

November had arrived, and the weather at Hogwarts was growing colder. Students around the school had started wearing winter clothes, and quite a few had come down with the flu because of the changing weather. Slytherin and Gryffindor still had plenty of minor clashes, costing both houses a lot of House Points, but none of it affected Anduin.

As he walked along the path, Anduin figured that besides selling the Potions he brewed, he could set some aside as Christmas gifts. While he was thinking it over, he soon arrived at Hagrid's Hut.

The scallions Anduin had planted outside the hut were growing well. It seemed Hagrid had found time to take care of them. He'd give Hagrid a couple of potions, too.

There was also a new stone stove outside, with the large iron pot Anduin had ordered sitting right on top. Anduin couldn't help feeling pleased. "Looks like the big pot I ordered has arrived, too."

Hagrid was happy to see him when he came inside. "So, what do you think of the stove I built outside? What should we cook in that big pot later?"

"Don't get ahead of yourself. I came a little early today so I could borrow your place to brew some Potions. We can talk about food once I'm done." Seeing Hagrid eager to eat dinner when it was only just past noon, Anduin couldn't help laughing.

With that, Anduin set the ingredients and brewing tools on Hagrid's large wooden table and began getting ready. He also asked Hagrid to keep watch, since he'd taken many of the ingredients from the greenhouses, and the glass potion bottles had come from the Potions Classroom. He felt a little like a thief.
