After emerging from the Black Mist, the attackers spread out quickly. Dozens of spells flew at once, and almost instantly, more than a dozen enemies inside the outermost barricade were blasted into white light by their overwhelming attack.

Neither the barricades nor the enemies in their path could withstand a single blow from them. Before long, they had smashed several gaps in the walls built from sandbags.
But even with the situation looking so favorable, Percy didn't rush recklessly forward. Instead, he ordered everyone to spread out quickly, then advance to the low walls the enemy had built and begin a war of attrition from behind cover.
Seeing the enemy stab into their position like a sharp blade, Wood didn't look troubled. He merely sighed with some regret.
