During the battle, all of them had also taken in an excessive amount of some kind of potion. At first, it had caused no reaction as they fled. Then they began to feel as though something was dragging at their sanity.
So, under the nuns' cover, the Blue Knight and Brunkel found a cave on the snowy mountain. They left the only two surviving nuns to watch over their bodies, then fell into a deep sleep. When they opened their eyes again, they were in this world.
As for why the two nuns had not been dragged into this world, the answer was probably simple. They must have been under the protection of an Angel, so their sanity had not been shaken at all.
After arriving, everything about this world had driven Brunkel mad with frustration. The aura it gave off was constantly eating away at her sanity. If she had been strong enough, she would have crushed this entire damned place to dust.
Over the better part of the day, they had also been attacked by Heretics. The Heretics here seemed considerably stronger than those outside. Normally, second- and third-order trash would have been as flimsy as paper, even with that extra strength. Now, however, those Heretics actually had a chance to put up a fight.
Of course, that might have been because both the Blue Knight and Brunkel were badly injured. The strength of their bodies in this world also seemed tied to their current sanity, so both of them found fighting somewhat taxing.
But that was not the real problem. The real problem was that when they killed those Heretics, the clouds of blood mist the Heretics dissolved into actually eroded their sanity. The erosion was slight, but if they encountered more Heretics, the two of them
