Bai Xiaowen let out a slow breath.
At first glance, Xi'en's Life Value was not especially high. Like Bai Xiaowen's, his lord skill was an aura and did not grant him extra Life Value. In that respect, he differed from the Deep Sea lord Vazhatas.
Xi'en's maximum Life Value was only 1,320 points, slightly lower than Vazhatas's.
But at the level of Xi'en and Vazhatas, survivability could no longer be judged by Life Value alone.
Xi'en's staggering 132 constitution gave him formidable survivability. It meant not just over a thousand points of Life Value, but also 132 points of innate armor and magic resistance!
With the bonus armor from his equipment, his armor probably exceeded 200 points. Under the damage-reduction formula the Awakened had worked out from the Spirit Realm Rules, how much damage would a lord with 200 armor shrug off when attacked by an eighth-level Awakened?
71.43%!
On top of that, Xi'en was a ninth-level constitution-based lord. His primary defensive armor was, by default, Dark Gold Equipment enhanced to +9. Unlike an Awakened's equipment, it had no special effects, but the fixed percentage of damage reduction from +9 Dark Gold armor was very real!
Dark Gold armor at +9 provided 36% damage reduction.
Fortunately, the two reductions were multiplied rather than simply added. Otherwise, Xi'en's damage reduction would have exceeded 100%...
Even so, it was utterly absurd.
Take a shot from Bai Xiaowen that dealt a Critical Hit with a theoretical 300 points of physical damage.
The +9 Dark Gold reduction applied first, leaving 64% of the damage: 192 points.
Then came the armor reduction. Against an enemy with 200 armor, an eighth-level Bai Xiaowen would deal only 28.57% of that damage. That came to... 55 points.
And that only accounted for ordinary damage reduction.
