The following day was the fourth day after Bai Xiaowen accepted the second main quest, [The Flames of Blackrock].

early morning.

The great bell atop the city wall rang, and on the distant horizon, a vast, dark army appeared, accompanied by wild horns and desolate drumbeats.

Prince Nicholas stood atop the city wall, his brow furrowed, like a statue. Beside him stood Archbishop Arlo, his brow equally furrowed.

The other human commanders also came to the city walls.

Exclamations of surprise rose and fell.

As the distance closed, the formidable military might of the distant Remnant Allied Army came into view of many high-ranking Human Allied Army.

A group of trolls riding Raptor served as the vanguard, leaping forward. This was the Troll Raptor Hunter Corps, followed by a square formation of other unit types.

A Orcs riding enormous Direwolf marched forward in perfect formation.

"Orc Elite Wolf Riders!" someone recognized.

Following the cavalry were the infantry. These infantrymen were all dark-skinned, with long, sharp ears, resembling Elves features. However, their clothing style was predominantly dark-toned, especially the women, who, in the cold winds of the Northern Frontier, had large areas of their dark skin exposed, with only a few thin pieces of cloth covering their vital areas. They were truly not afraid of the cold.

"The Dark Elf Scimitar Warriors, there are four whole formations of a thousand men each!" said Count Danton.

Interspersed among the Dark Elves infantry formations were the figures of colossal creatures. These were giant beasts shaped like lizards, with thick, emerald-green skin and a single horn protruding from their noses.

"Thunder Beast! My God, with these behemoths around, it's enough to make up for those barbarians' lack of magic..." Nicholas's magic advisor sighed.

With a whooshing sound, a whistling sound rang out in the sky, and groups of flying soldiers formed shadows that covered the earth below. These Remnants flying soldiers were all slender and petite, the vast majority of them female, with eagle-like wings growing from their backs.

In their slender hands, however, lay short bows, their arrowheads gleaming coldly.

"Harpy Archers! Damn it, when did the Sinlands get so many birdmen? These feathered beasts are really good at breeding!" Another old lord from the Northern Frontier recognized the origin of this flying unit.

Each formation of elite soldiers from the Remnants left a wave of exclamations on the walls of Blackrock Fortress.

Seeing the terrifying number of the Remnant Allied Army and considering their fighting power... most of the nobles in the Human Allied Army felt a deep sense of fear.

The scene at the ball a few days ago has been brought back to the memories of many. Many people are looking for the young lord who dared to speak the truth but was ridiculed by the crowd.

Before they could find it, a deep drumbeat sounded, and a tall Orcs riding a giant wolf emerged from the Orcs wolf cavalry formation.

This Orcs was extremely robust and burly. He spoke in the Common Tongue of the Kane Plane (Old Latin), but perhaps due to his grammatical limitations, he spoke very slowly, almost one word at a time, like a hammer striking an anvil, clearly echoing throughout the entire battlefield.

"I am Absolon Hertzlit, High Chieftain of the Orcs Clan, Commander-in-Chief of the Allied Forces."

"Humans... surrender, and live on as slaves."

"Resist... massacre the city!"

On the city walls, despite being Stun by the military might of the Remnant Allied Army, many humans still cursed loudly.

Prince Nicholas raised his large, armored hand, silencing the crowd's shouts, and slowly said, "Orcs, with me here, Blackrock City will never fall. Enough with the talk, let's settle this with swords!"

The Orcs chieftain and commander of the allied forces, Absolon, wore an enigmatic smile on his fanged face.

"Attack!"

This shout was yelled out in the Remnant Tongue.

Within the ranks of the Remnant Allied Army, the originally desolate sound of war drums suddenly became rapid, and a feeling of fervent passion rose from the depths of their hearts. Countless Remnants soldiers, brandishing their weapons, roared as they charged toward the walls of Blackrock Fortress!

Once they were within range of the city walls and arrow towers, they were met with a torrential downpour of arrows. Although the Remnants soldiers were all elite and possessed formidable fighting power, being hit by multiple arrows meant certain death.

Leading the charge was a phalanx of Half-Orc Spearmen. However, the moats surrounding Blackrock City meant that it took these Orcs twice as long and resulted in far more casualties before they finally reached the city walls.

Large numbers of Orcs lay prone at the base of the city wall. More Orcs, with superhuman agility, leaped onto their fellow orcs, forming a human ladder. Soon, the ladder was stacked three or four layers high, reaching the edge of the tall city wall.

These Orcs, however, were exposed to the range of the Human Allied Army archers from the arrow towers on both sides, becoming easy targets.

The Human Allied Army archers unleashed a rain of arrows from behind the Orcs, forming a pincer movement with the human defenders on the city walls, and one Orcs fell.

"This defensive formation, where the arrow towers and city walls support each other, is indeed of great practical value," Count Danton said to Prince Nicholas from the city wall.

Prince Nicholas nodded. "If the Orcs commander isn't stupid, he shouldn't be continuing to charge the city walls so recklessly..."

Sure enough, a horn sounded from the Remnants camp, and immediately Elite Tier soldiers such as Troll Headhunter and Troll Raptor Riders rushed towards the arrow tower, attempting to climb it.

However, climbing the arrow towers was just as difficult as climbing the city walls, and one had to endure the barrage of arrows from above. Soon, just like around the city walls, high piles of corpses lay beneath each arrow tower.

The enraged vanguard of Orcs began hacking at the arrow tower with their weapons. The arrow tower, being a makeshift structure, though also made of black rock, was not as sturdy as a city wall. With each strike, the Remnants army suffered heavy casualties, and the arrow tower began to teeter on the brink of collapse.

"We cannot stand by and watch them destroy the arrow towers, Your Highness! Please allow me to lead the troops in a charge!" Count Danton cried.

Nicholas shook his head slowly but firmly.

Everyone was stunned.

"These newly built arrow towers have already played a significant role. To destroy just one tower, the enemy has to sacrifice at least dozens of soldiers' lives, which is quite worthwhile," Prince Nicholas said. "According to Dio's advice, as the City Defense, we should avoid rashly venturing out of the city to engage in a direct confrontation with a powerful enemy. I believe now is not a good time to charge."

Archbishop Arlo, standing nearby, nodded in agreement. "Indeed, the enemy has just begun their siege, their morale is still high, it's not a good time to charge. Let's wait for Baron Dio's good news..."
