Commander Zehu (Third Update)

Just as Bai Xiaowen was capturing the Hittites scouts, the original driver of the first formation where Li Shuyi was stationed, Mairu, had returned with a complaint.

Behind Mairu followed a group of people, led by a tall, middle-aged man.

When Li Shuyi saw the three colorful feathers tucked into the hood of the middle-aged man's head, she knew that he was of high status, and immediately followed the example of the other chariot drivers and saluted the general.

"I am Zehu -Dinakht, commander of the fourth phalanx," the middle-aged man said in a deep voice, his eyes sunken. "First phalanx, who is the tank commander?"

Mairu smiled smugly. He looked around and reported loudly, "Zehu, that arrogant fellow Dio isn't here... He actually deserted his post!"

Li Shuyi said in a deep voice, "Nonsense, my superior went to capture the enemy..."

Commander Zehu frowned and coldly Intimidating Shout, "Now is the time to assemble and prepare for marching! What enemy is he supposed to capture? Has anyone spotted the enemy?"

A group of infantrymen shook their heads blankly.

The infantryman who had gone to the tent to deliver the order earlier whispered, "I saw Commander Dio say something to soldier Charlotte, and then run towards the western forest."

"So, you didn't see any enemies?" Zehu's voice turned stern.

Li Shuyi: "Commander, please trust Captain Dio's judgment, he..."

"I don't have time to listen to your explanations. He has already delayed the legion's departure! I hereby declare that the First Tank Commander, Dio, has delayed military operations and overstepped his authority by replacing his deputy commander, showing utter disregard for the law. He is hereby dismissed from his position as tank commander and exiled to the slave camp!" Commander Zehu declared with a powerful voice.

"Wait a moment!"

A voice came from afar, and everyone looked in the direction of the sound.

"Dio, the chariot commander?" an infantryman whispered.

With a smug smile on his face, Mairu shouted, "Dio! You idiot, you're finished! I'm now the commander of the first chariot squad. You'd better go report to the slave camp!"

He was genuinely happy. He had thought he would have to argue with Zehu, but he never expected that Dio would leave his post without permission in the ranks! He had gotten rid of his superior and replaced him without lifting a finger. It was incredibly satisfying.

Bai Xiaowen was still clutching a rope made of linen strips, with four horses tied to the back. On two of the horses, two naked men were also tied.

That's right, Bai Xiaowen stripped the Hittites cavalrymen's robes, tore them into strips of cloth and ropes, tied them up, and took them back to the army.

Li Shuyi went to greet her and whispered a few words to Bai Xiaowen.

Bai Xiaowen nodded slightly, jumped off the back of the Rageclaw, and looked at the commander with three colorful feathers stuck in his hair. "Zehu, I did indeed discover the Hittites scouts and brought them back. I hope to see Legion Commander Sammet and report the Hittites plot to him."

Commander Zehu frowned deeply as he glanced at the two naked men behind Bai Xiaowen.

"How can you be sure they are Hittites scouts? Perhaps they are just two hunters passing through," Zehu said coldly. "Alright, considering you had a valid reason, I won't punish you. The previous order to the slave camp is rescinded. As for seeing Lord Sammet, there's no need. I'll take these two suspicious men and explain things to him."

After a pause, Zehu added, "As for the driver of the first team, you can decide that yourself."

Mairu's eyes nearly popped out of their sockets; he hadn't expected Zehu to betray him so quickly.

Li Shuyi's eyebrows furrowed slightly; she was somewhat indignant. This commander's behavior was too unseemly, openly stealing the merits of his subordinates.

Bai Xiaowen narrowed his eyes slightly. This Hittites scout, whom he had captured by chance, was an important stepping stone for him to complete the main mission. How could he easily hand him over to Zehu just to get rid of a Mairu's deputy position? He must be crazy.

"Wait a moment, Zehu," Bai Xiaowen said calmly, "I still insist on my opinion; it would be better if I personally delivered him to Sammet."

To be on the safe side, Bai Xiaowen has already used his Insight.

Having inherited the original chariot commander's memories, Bai Xiaowen also gained some understanding of the Ancient Egypt customs and background of the Ramses Plane.

Ancient Egypt society originally had a clear class division, but after the Reformation, people increasingly valued actual power rather than social status. It was not uncommon for commoners who considered themselves powerful to challenge the authority of the aristocratic class.

Zehu snorted heavily, "Get back to your post! That's an order!"

"You're wasting your precious time!" Bai Xiaowen retorted sharply. "I won't accept this chaotic order. I must see Commander Sammet!"

Two burly guards standing next to Commander Zehu walked over, clenching their fists, seemingly ready to teach Bai Xiaowen a small lesson. These two were only slightly stronger than Standard Template, far from being Elite Template. Bai Xiaowen didn't even need to summon any creatures; he easily knocked them down with a few punches and kicks.

A low gasp of surprise rang out.

"You arrogant bastard..." Zehu's veins throbbed, but he also felt a slight sense of apprehension towards this formidable soldier.

"I want to see Lord Sammet," Bai Xiaowen said, emphasizing each word. "If Zehu is unwilling to take me, I will go to see him alone!"

Who wants to see me?

A slightly younger-looking male voice rang out, and everyone turned to look.

A young man dressed in fine clothes, with five colorful feathers stuck in his hood, walked slowly over, surrounded by a group of burly soldiers.

"This person... is Sammet, the supreme commander of the Ptah's Divine Legion? To have such a position at such a young age, he must come from a very good family." Bai Xiaowen narrowed his eyes slightly and bowed along with the others.
