After the Battle
On the high ground, seeing the Egypt Set Legion arriving to provide support and Ramses ' retreat, Sammet remained silent.
Naheh sighed, "I didn't expect the Set army to arrive so timely. Master, it's time to make a decision."
"Order the Ptah Legion to set out and meet the Pharaoh," Sammet said.
"Master, if we gather the soldiers who are loyal to you in the army, we can still muster a force of several hundred elite men! Perhaps we could wait until the time of the rendezvous..." Naheh said in a low voice, a hint of ruthlessness in his eyes.
"No, if I do that, the charge of murdering the Pharaoh will spread throughout Egypt, and Ramses ' prime minister and officials will oppose me. It will be even more impossible for me to sit on the Pharaoh's throne!" Sammet shook his head and rejected the proposal.
"But... even if Master goes to meet him now, Ramses' suspicions of Master will not disappear! Now we have no choice but to fight to the death!" Naheh whispered, trying to persuade him.
Sammet shook his head again. "Stop talking! I've made up my mind. If Amun doesn't give me the opportunity to rule Egypt, then I have no choice but to obey his will."
The Hittites were also exhausted from the continuous battles. Eager to return home, the Egypt, Inspiration by the Pharaoh, unleashed tremendous energy and broke through the Hittites blockade.
Especially later, the Ptah Legion, arriving late, made the Hittites hesitate – King Muwatallis ordered a retreat, returning to Kadesh City. If they rashly pursued them and the Egypt took advantage of the situation to occupy Kadesh City, the entire Suliston (Syria) region would be left without any defenses.
Under Bai Xiaowen's witness, Ramses and Sammet, these two seemingly close brothers, had a friendly and cordial meeting.
Sammet immediately apologized, but also tried to deflect blame, claiming that they had been harassed by Hittites rangers during the march and had sent elite troops in pursuit, which caused the delay.
Ramses comforted him. Sammet, upon hearing that the Pharaoh might be in trouble, abandoned his planned objective in Ugarit and rushed to his rescue. His sincere devotion was evident to all.
At least Sammet brought the Ptah Legion intact to the battlefield, unlike the Ra Legion, which Ambush by the Hittites and completely routed.
Sammet then subtly inquired about the origins of Bai Xiaowen and the other person, which was also a way of explaining.
The two men left the army halfway through, and he thought they were traitors, which led him to mistakenly issue the temple decree... almost ruining everything. For this, he sincerely (?) apologized to Bai Xiaowen.
Bai Xiaowen thought to himself that Sammet was shameless enough; this seemed to be an essential skill for members of the Wang family.
Ramses did not deny Sammet's speculation that the two were close confidants of the Pharaoh, but instead smiled and tacitly agreed. As for the mistakenly issued temple edict, Ramses also expressed his understanding.
In short, the two brothers cleared up their misunderstanding and from then on cooperated closely to govern Egypt together...
Yeah, right.
After forgiving Sammet's lateness, Ramses immediately stripped Sammet of his rank as legion commander and brought Sammet to his side as the deputy legion commander of the Amun Legion to learn how to lead troops... until he was ready to be sent out to command an army.
As for the graduation date... that was, of course, decided by their teacher Ramses.
The Ptah Legion was temporarily placed under the command of Ramses ' trusted general, Samp.
Bai Xiaowen watched as Sammet hesitated before handing over the Legion Commander's token, shook his head slightly, and said in the Team Channel:
"Sammet is ambitious but incompetent. Even if Ramses II dies, it's unlikely he'll be able to sit on the throne of Pharaoh."
Li Shuyi said, "He should have taken a gamble and stabbed Ramses in the back when things were at a stalemate. Maybe there would still be hope. I don't know why he didn't do that and instead chose to surrender... Now that Ramses has slowly boiled him like a frog in water, stripping him of all power and influence, he probably can't escape death."
"Perhaps he's too attached to his current position and lacks the courage to take a gamble," Bai Xiaowen said with a smile. "There's a saying in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, 'A worn-out horse clings to its saddle,' which describes someone like Sammet ... Never mind that, let's take stock of what we've gained from this great battle."
The battle lasted a long time, with tens of thousands of soldiers killed or wounded on both sides, resulting in heavy losses. However, for the Awakened, the benefits were enormous.
In terms of Psionic Points, the team's savings increased by more than 20,000! For Psionic Points reward purely from grinding monsters, it's absolutely terrifying.
Bai Xiaowen specifically targeted Hittites Elite Tier officers, ensuring a steady harvest of Soul Essence regardless of whether he was the main attacker or the finisher. After this battle, his Black Soul Stone had reached level 5, with a growth rate of 1309/2000, and had stored 1344 Soul Essence.
It must be said that large-scale wars like this are the most suitable for the growth of Black Soul Stone. This is only because the Ancient Egypt Plane is not very difficult and there are not many Elite Tier in the legion; otherwise, after this battle, the growth rate would probably be close to level six.
The loot from treasure chests was limited, mainly because in the chaotic battlefield, most enemies were attacked by Egypt soldiers— Spirit Realm beings from the same faction—before being killed, reducing the chest drop rate. After counting, the two obtained a total of 7 Elite Chest and 1 Golden Treasure Chest. As for the regular chests, they only had time to pick them up 5.
Other hidden benefits include increased reputation within the faction and Affection Level with the Spirit Realm figures.
My faction reputation is still at Honored, but judging from the progress bar, it's almost at Revered.
Ramses' favorability rating remained at the acquaintance level, but the burly Samp had gained a lot of favorability towards Bai Xiaowen, reaching the friend level.
On their way back to Amurru Fortress, having nothing else to do, Bai Xiaowen and Li Shuyi secretly opened a bunch of treasure chests.
There's not much to say about regular treasure chests; they almost always give you Psionic Points.
The seven Elite Chest all had very low Battle Rating and were heavily padded with low-quality loot; only the two Rare Elite chests were somewhat worthwhile. In the end, one chest dropped Blue Gear that was bound to equipment, and the other dropped Gold Gear that Bind on Pickup.
The Gold Equipment was a cloth hood called [Centurion's Glory], which increased strength and constitution, without any special effects. Neither of them needed it, so they left it in their Storage Space for the time being.
The last one opened was the Golden Treasure Chest of Holimu, the commander-in-chief of the Hittites army and a level 8 Boss Tier.
A-Tier Battle Rating!
Upon receiving this notification, both of them were thrilled. The value of this one treasure chest far exceeded the total value of the previous 12 chests. This was the allure of defeating the BOSS; becoming rich overnight was definitely not a dream.
Amidst the shimmering golden light, twenty-eight golden cards slowly coalesced.
