Death's Grasp
Bai Xiaowen has the advantage of long-range attacks, as well as Insight and mental perception. He specifically targets Elite Tier officers in the Imperial Army, dealing damage with a single shot and immediately moving on to the next target without hesitation.
Bai Xiaowen's goal was no longer to farm Kill Contribution for treasure chests, but simply to reserve a spot and earn some Soul Essence.
Goliya charged ahead.
Although she lost most of her memories and even her skills after the transformation, Goliya's Battle Specialty remained undiminished—it was an instinct ingrained in her very being! This allowed her to fully leverage the advantages of her high attributes.
With each swing of her Skeleton Greatsword, she took the life of an Imperial Army soldier.
Dozens of the Imperial Army soldiers, led by two Elite Tier officers, formed a spear-and-shield formation, attempting to block Goliya. However, they were too inexperienced; this dense formation made them easy targets for area-of-effect (AOE) attacks.
Goliya swung her Skeleton Greatsword, unleashing Death Breath.
The Standard Template Imperial Army soldiers fell dead instantly, and the two Elite Tier officers also suffered a significant drop in Life Value, with large chunks of their skin rotting and screaming in agony.
Bai Xiaowen sighed, fired two shots, ending their suffering, and pocketed their Soul Essence.
"Warriors of the Death Kingdom, rise up!"
Goliya raised her Skeleton Greatsword once more, emanating a chilling energy that pulled a group of Skeleton Soldier and several newly added Elite Zombie from the corpses.
This scene finally shattered the morale of the Imperial Army soldiers, who scrambled to escape.
"Leave no one alive!"
Goliya spoke coldly, her left hand, encased in a dark blue gauntlet, slightly open, aimed at the fleeing Imperial soldiers.
A chilling power surged forth, and the fleeing soldiers seemed to be held back by an invisible shackle, unable to move forward even a single step no matter how hard they tried!
Goliya made a pulling motion with her left hand, and the fleeing soldiers were instantly dragged back to Goliya as if pulled by invisible chains! The undead monsters swarmed forward.
Bai Xiaowen received a hint:
"Black Knight Goliya has mastered the combat skill: Death's Grasp, based on your Insight..."
[Death's Grasp: Goliya selects an enemy within 100 meters, briefly charges up, then drags all enemies within a 25-meter radius of that enemy to her side, inflicting a severe slow effect. Goliya can also activate Death's Grasp without charging, but can only pull one target.]
"Okay, it's starting to look more and more like Death Knight, or even an enhanced version."
Bai Xiaowen silently complained in his heart, but his hands moved quickly, raising his hand to summon Skeleton Sword-and-Shield Soldier, blocking the stone steps leading down the mountain.
For the sake of future plans, Bai Xiaowen must cooperate with Goliya to wipe out these Imperial Army.
Unfortunately, there weren't many Elite Tier in this military camp. When the last Imperial soldier fell, the Black Soul Stone's growth rate rose to 1024/5000, and the Soul Essence that had been exhausted while helping Goliya transform was replenished by nearly a hundred points.
Goliya once again wielded her Cursed Blade, resurrecting the undead of dozens of Imperial soldiers to fight for her.
The Cursed Blade can only resurrect beings killed by Goliya, which is inferior to the Soul-Siphoning Banshee Delifa's "Corpse Revival" skill. However, the undead creatures resurrected by the Cursed Blade are permanent, and this advantage alone makes it far superior to "Corpse Revival".
"I sensed something, and there are hardly any living people left in the Monastery. Those nuns were killed by the Boss Tier of the undead who escaped from the Grand Mausoleum," Bai Xiaowen said.
Besides Boss Tier Melda and Sister Sanya, the Monastery also had many other nuns, both Elite Tier and Standard Template. When the spell Sealed Holy Coffer dissipated, these nuns must have encountered the Boss Tier of the undead who had escaped from the Grand Mausoleum in the Monastery's backyard.
Putting aside the natural hatred that the dead have for living beings, the Boss Tier of the dead would certainly seek revenge simply because these nuns had imprisoned them for so many years.
The Frenzy nuns had no intention of running away. To them, sacrificing themselves for the Lord of Light was a great honor. Even if the undead Boss Tier didn't provoke them, they would definitely drag him into the battle.
Judging from the Imperial Army in front of the Monastery gate, the undead Boss Tier must have taken a detour to escape, avoiding a direct confrontation with the soldiers. This is quite normal, given that it's an army of several hundred men; most undead Boss Tier wouldn't be able to defeat them—not every Boss Tier is as monstrous as Goliya, who also has the White Phoenix Squad's help.
"The battle here is over."
Goliya said slowly, "To establish Death Kingdom, I need a reliable base. Northshire is a good choice."
"May I offer a suggestion?" Bai Xiaowen asked.
Goliya gave him a deep look with her icy blue eyes. "Okay."
"Currently, the war Northern Frontier Imperial Army and the Resistance Army is approaching its climax. Both factions are behemoths to us—if we are too high-profile, attracting the attention of either faction will be catastrophic..."
Bai Xiaowen continued, "Northshire is indeed a large city, but its political significance is too great. It is the capital of the Northern Frontier. If it is occupied by undead creatures, it will definitely shock the entire Aaron Continent and attract the hostility of the two major factions, or even besiege and annihilation. Neither Usok nor the imperial high command can tolerate Northshire becoming the Main Base of the Death Kingdom."
Goliya scoffed. "The living and the dead are naturally opposed. Even if I don't attack Northshire, they won't tolerate the existence of the Death Kingdom."
"Yes, the Death Kingdom and the two major factions are naturally hostile, but so far, they are only 'hostile'... However, the Imperial Army and the Resistance Army have been fighting for a long time, and it has escalated to the level of hatred! As long as we don't cause trouble recklessly, we won't trigger a siege by the two major factions in the short term."
Bai Xiaowen analyzed, "Looking at the situation on the Aaron Continent, the High Elves are too far away to discuss for now. The Lionheart Empire is still the strongest faction, and the Imperial Army in the Northern Frontier has strong backing. Don't be fooled by the fact that the Usok Resistance Army can currently hold its own against the Northern Frontier Imperial Army. As the Empire's elite legions gradually set out and enter the Northern Frontier, they will eventually be unable to hold out. Without external intervention, Usok's defeat is only a matter of time."
"Under these circumstances, we can only hope that the Usok Resistance Army will buy us enough time to develop!"
"Northshire is now occupied by the Resistance Army, and it would be unwise to start a war with the Resistance Army... It would only weaken both sides and allow the most powerful Imperial Legions to reap the benefits. Therefore... the best starting point for the Death Kingdom should be here."
Bai Xiaowen took out the Northern Frontier map he had obtained from Usok and tapped it lightly with his finger.
Only two updates today, need to rest, I can't take it anymore from staying up all night.
