Bai Xiaowen picked up the Broken Water Sword Manual.

The manual had clearly come from Waterbreak Manor by way of Gu Zhen and the other two. Since Bai Xiaowen had entered the world as Waterbreak Manor's young master, it made sense for the manual to be a quest reward.

As Bai Xiaowen understood it, though, this manual probably did not include the method for cultivating Broken Water Sword Intent—the version Bai Hanjiang, "One Sword Cleaves the River," had practiced. The annotations might have been added by Bai Hanjiang, or they might have come from Gu Zhen and his companions' research after they obtained the manual.

The manual was worth far more than an ordinary Skill Book. Learning it would grant a level-six skill outright, saving a great deal of effort on early skill upgrades.

The special note that it "ignored base attribute requirements" also caught Bai Xiaowen's attention. Perhaps advanced Skill Books all had base attribute requirements. The ones he had encountered before might have lacked them simply because they were lower-level.

Besides, if Li Shuyi did not intend to learn the Broken Water Sword Technique, she could use it to improve her One-Handed Swordsmanship proficiency instead. That would help her meet the first requirement of her Awakening Skill quest: "Reach level ten in Advanced Swordsmanship proficiency."

"Don't use this Skill Book to raise your swordsmanship level yet," Bai Xiaowen said as he handed the manual to Li Shuyi. "First, your One-Handed Swordsmanship proficiency hasn't reached level eight, so you can still benefit from Warrior's Star. Also, your swordsmanship level is already high. The Broken Water Sword Manual would probably only raise it by one level... Getting two levels out of it is unlikely."
