A sudden creaking filled the air. Light flickered across the magic arrays on the Ghost Dreadnought's hull, and its ram veered from its previous course. Like a giant roused from sleep, the ship no longer drifted with the current.
Staze's expression changed sharply—though his scales made it hard to see, his face was unmistakably full of shock and rage. "That's impossible!"
Bai Xiaowen let out a breath and smiled. His teammates hadn't let him down.
The Ghost Dreadnought was ten times larger than an ordinary Ghost Ship, but its layout was much the same, including the positions of the captain's cabin and control room. During their earlier voyage, Qiao Rui and the others had tried channeling mental power through the magic array to steer a Ghost Ship...
To Bai Xiaowen, steering one with mental power felt about as difficult as a racing video game from the Common Era. It wasn't hard.
The real challenge was scattering the Snakefolk in the control room and seizing control of the magic array before time ran out. That took strength.
Staze glared at Bai Xiaowen through gritted teeth.
If looks could kill, Bai Xiaowen would have dodged long ago.
"Commander Staze, we don't need you anymore." Bai Xiaowen grinned. "Time to send you on your way."
"Lord Vazhatas will kill you. He'll kill every last one of you!" Staze snarled. He had noticed Vazhatas slip away when the Ghost Dreadnought headed toward the Vortex Sea Eye.
"You're awfully confident," Bai Xiaowen said with a shrug. "Don't worry. I'll send him to join you soon."
The fighting continued, but Staze could no longer resist. His Life Value dwindled rapidly.
Rageclaw's final swipe took the last of Staze's Life Value.
The remaining Snakefolk scattered, only to run headlong into Li Shuyi and Cecilia as they emerged
