Daly and Dunn
"Couldn't it be because you saw an 'acquaintance'?"
"An acquaintance?" Vivian was slightly surprised, then glanced at the two people not far away, thought for a moment, and said sweetly, "Darling, lying is not a good thing."
"Just now at Saint Selena Cathedral, you didn't even know the bishop here, so how could you possibly know the Night Watcher?"
"How about we make a bet?" Altair didn't choose to explain the problem, but instead, as if he had thought of something fun, casually said, "Let's play a game with the two of them."
Seeing that Altair was getting playful, Vivian quickly agreed and asked, "Okay, how do we play?"
"Let's bet on whether they're a couple, the Lovers who dare not express their deepest feelings." After saying that Altair shamelessly added, "I bet they are."
"If I win, you know what I want to do."
Upon hearing this, Vivian's throat bobbed involuntarily, as if she were afraid of something.
But after thinking about it, she retorted defiantly, "So, does that mean I can only choose them?"
After Altair nodded slightly, Vivian continued, "I feel this is very unfair."
"Since you're so sure, there must be a reason."
"Hmm~, how about we make this bet? We'll both work together and see who can make or break these two up."
After saying that, Vivian cunningly and quickly added, "I can help them achieve their goals."
"A cunning girl," Altair said helplessly. "It seems I have no choice but to separate them."
Altair nodded and said, "Alright, since you want to play it this way, then it's a deal."
After lunch, as Vivian went to pay the bill, Altair slowly approached the two of them and, looking troubled, asked the girl with exaggerated blue eyeshadow, "Sister, since you're wearing this eye makeup, are you Spirit Channeling?"
The girl nodded and smiled, "Yes."
Altair then handed over a note, explaining, "Sister, some strange things have been happening in my family lately. May I hire you to come and take a look?"
As she spoke, Altair revealed her slender, flawless white wrist for the girl to see.
"Sure." The girl glanced at it casually and explained, "Is it okay later? We both need to eat now."
Altair said gratefully, "Then I'll go back and inform my parents. Sister, brother-in-law, please enjoy your meal. I'm not in a hurry."
After saying that, Altair left the restaurant quickly, as if he had been rescued.
Watching the girl disappear into the distance, the short-haired man said apologetically, "Sorry, Daly, I was just about to explain when she vanished."
Upon hearing this, the girl called Daly's expression instantly returned to normal, and she calmly said, "It's alright, Dunn, I understand."
After saying that, the two people at the table returned to normal and silently began to eat their lunch.
Not long after, the short-haired man Dunn, seemed to recall something, looked up at Daly, and calmly asked, "Wasn't the matter with that girl a little urgent? If—"
Before he could finish speaking, Daly interrupted, "It's probably just some spirit causing trouble, it's nothing serious."
"Do you want to come with me?"
Faced with the girl's invitation, the short-haired man Dunn, hesitated for a moment before nodding and saying, "I'll go. After all, we're colleagues; helping each other is only right."
Upon hearing this, the young girl Daly, seemed quite disappointed and silently lowered her head to continue eating her lunch.
Half an hour later, in Tingen City, East District, the two had just alighted from the carriage when Daly led the way with the note in her hand. As the streets grew increasingly secluded, she sensed something was wrong and immediately said to the person behind her, "Dunn, be careful. That girl who handed me the note isn't normal."
Before the words were even finished, the two stood back to back, as if they were partners who had worked together for many years, on guard.
While keeping a close watch on his surroundings, Dunn asked, "What's wrong?"
Daly casually replied, "The words on the note are gone, and didn't you notice that the girl's figure is gradually blurring out—"
Before Daly could finish explaining, her hands were already wrapped in countless invisible threads and suddenly pulled forward.
--
By the time she realized what was happening, she had already been struck hard in the waist. Her attacker showed no mercy because she was a woman; her ribs were already broken, followed by Affliction groans.
Upon hearing the sound, Dunn immediately turned around to provide assistance, but was met with a kick to the face. He quickly bent over to dodge, but before he could stand up, he was struck hard in the waist and abdomen, which made a creaking sound as if it could not withstand the weight.
After Vivian walked over, she looked at Dunn, who was coughing up blood, and scolded him, "Honey, are you a sore loser? You almost killed him with that kick, how are we supposed to play?"
Altair coughed awkwardly and replied, "I just recently advanced in my cultivation level and haven't fully mastered my power yet."
After saying that, she hurriedly took out Traveler's Bag from the side pocket of her dress, pulled out two bottles of healing potions, and forcefully forced them down the throats of the two men.
Having just finished drinking, Altair quickly threw away the bottle, finished off the two men with a stab, and used the silk threads to drag them away from the street.
Several tens of minutes later, in an unnamed hotel in the East District, Altair took a basin of cold water from the bathroom and splashed it directly on Dunn. The cold water instantly woke him up.
When Dunn woke up, his first action was to look around. After finding that Daly was alright, he looked at the people who had kidnapped them.
--
Seeing this, Vivian grinned mischievously and said, "Don't worry, you won't die for now, but if your answers don't satisfy me, well, that's another story."
"Now I'll ask, you answer. If you dare lie to me, I'll punish your teammates."
After speaking, Vivian asked coldly, "Name? Occupation? And the Pathway and Sequence?"
Upon hearing this, he slowly lowered his head and said in a suppressed voice, "Dunn Smith, Blackthorn Security Company— "
Before he could finish speaking, Vivian kicked Daly, waking her up.
He casually remarked, "You're being dishonest."
After pulling Daly up by the hair, Vivian said again, "Since he's not going to tell us, then tell us your name..."
Profession----"
Upon hearing this, Daly fell silent. Seeing this, Altair kicked Dunn hard, smashing the stool he was sitting on.
Just as Dunn was about to get up and prepare to retaliate, Altair rushed forward and stomped him on the back with a war stomp.
Immediately afterward, Dunn's body began to creak and groan. Sitting beside him, Daly gritted her teeth and called out, "Stop fighting! I'll talk."
