Joining the Demoness Sect
December 20, 1346
In the afternoon, Altair visited Baron Hoy's Residence again.
Because Madam Sharon had given prior instructions, the servants dared not neglect her at all, and warmly led her to the private Reception Hall, serving her black tea and snacks.
Not long after, Madam Sharon, dressed in a light gauze dress, led in a young girl carrying a light-colored wooden box.
After entering, Madam Sharon took their hands and warmly introduced them, "Altair, this is Adela Kennedy, Intis, the contact person the family arranged for you."
"Adela, this is Altair. You should already know her situation; there's no need for a special introduction."
"It's a pleasure to meet you," Altair greeted with a smile.
Adela nodded and replied with a smile, "Good afternoon, Miss Altair."
"I want to finish this task as soon as possible, let's get straight to the point."
After speaking, Adela placed the suitcase on the table beside her and explained, "All the items in this suitcase represent the promises given to you by the Church and the Saintess of the White."
"Assassin pathway: Two sets each of the extraordinary materials or traits required for Sequence Nine to Sequence Four, plus six Beyonder Characteristic for Traveler, Alchemist, Shepherd, Imperative Mage, Manipulator, and Shaman King."
"The church also provides books on Occult Knowledge to the Sequence Four Demoness of Despair. However, these are all common knowledge; if you need specific knowledge, you will need to make contributions to the family before you can obtain them."
"The Church can provide you with the Assassin pathway traits and related books for free. As for the other traits, you'll need to pay an additional 100,000 Gold Pound."
After she finished speaking, she took out a small ring box from her bosom, opened it, and took out a perfectly crafted sapphire ring.
Then he said, "Put this ring on."
Altair took the ring and examined it curiously, wondering, "Could this be the Trissy ring Triss will have three years later? She used the ring to summon the ' Primordial Demoness ' Cheek, disrupting George III's ascension to godhood."
"Adam"
As soon as the thought crossed her mind, ripples like water appeared in the surrounding space, gradually spreading outwards from her center.
But all these fluctuations might be a visual Error or a hallucination; at the very least, the three people in the room did not observe or feel them.
After Altair slipped the ring onto her ring finger, nothing seemed to change. She then examined it curiously, thinking, "Looks like I was overthinking it; it's just an ordinary ring."
Adela, meanwhile, observed Altair's reaction after he put on the ring. After a few seconds and seeing nothing happen, she interrupted, "Let's make our vows. Say them with me."
"Therefore, the source of Catastrophe, the symbol of destruction and Apocalypse, the Demoness who wields chaos, I, Adela, swear by the Ring of Chik, that I, in the form of a woman, will spread calamity and incite fear..."
After reciting the oath, Altair calmed himself down, his pupils regaining focus. He looked in horror at his right hand at the sapphire ring, which was now emitting a faint glow.
Adela, who was standing not far away, watched her calmly until everything returned to normal, then stepped forward and opened her palm.
Seeing her action, Altair immediately understood and quickly took off the sapphire ring from his ring finger and handed it to her.
After taking back the ring, Adela carefully put it away again and explained, "You don't need to be afraid. He is the faith of the Church, the Oldest One being born of chaos, and the ultimate being who will end everything."
After hearing Adela's words, Altair was thinking, "What are you talking about? I didn't see the Primordial Demoness. What surprises me is why I was reciting the oath with you, and the ring really is the Ring of Chik."
Madam Sharon, who had been standing idly to the side, quickly stepped forward after the matter was over, pulled the two women to sit down, and said, "Sister, don't worry. Although the Demoness Sect claims to be a cult, we are essentially one family; we are all daughters of the Primordial."
"Okay, I understand," Altair said softly.
Seeing Altair's reaction, Madam Sharon was about to speak when Adela said to her:
"Sharon, please prepare some refreshments. We'll move on to the next phase of negotiations shortly."
Upon hearing this, Madam Sharon gave a knowing smile and said sweetly, "I'll go prepare right away."
After she left the room, Adela said again, "Sharon is right. The Demoness Sect is essentially Demoness Family. Although many things cannot be unified within the cult, they are united in their dealings with the outside world."
"I wasn't originally supposed to be the one guiding you into the family, but unfortunately, the person originally assigned received another mission three days ago, so I was sent instead."
"She should have told you as well that the family needs you to provide a stable, large-scale supply of firearms; this is a task you must complete. As for other matters, you don't need to handle them for now, but remember to speed up your 'role' to advance to Sequence Four."
The "Demoness's role-playing" method requires careful attention... Remember, you are only playing a role, don't lose yourself in it.
Just as Adela finished speaking, Madam Sharon knocked on the door and led the servants in.
After the tea and snacks were laid out and the servants had left, she introduced the tea to the two of them, "Marquis Black Tea, with a delicate taste and a quick aftertaste..."
As Madam Sharon introduced the tea, the two of them couldn't help but sip their cups of black tea.
After the tea tasting, Adela continued:
"You don't need to give me your 100,000 Gold Pound. You can handle the distribution channels and the acquisitions yourself. If possible, please let me take the first batch of goods before the end of January after the new year."
Altair nodded, then asked curiously, "What does the family need so many weapons for? We don't need to 'play' in this war, do we?"
Adela nodded, jokingly adding in a measured tone, "Making money—the sect needs to spend huge sums of money every year to train new members."
"Moreover, war is a Catastrophe for ordinary people. The family also owns an arms factory in Intis, but the weapons market is developing too fast. Half a year ago, after Loen introduced a new weapon, other countries have also developed new weapons in the past month or so."
"Shouldn't they be in dire need of technical support? They can't make much money buying and reselling these things," Altair muttered to himself.
"You're absolutely right." Adela agreed immediately after hearing her complaint, then added, "But we can't even get the technology. As far as I know, the chieftain once used the designer's name for a special divination."
"Logically speaking, even if they were using aliases, someone with the strength of Sequence Two should be able to divination some Spider Silk. But the result we got was strange; we only obtained one useful piece of information: they don't belong to this era."
