"What did you do to me?" The assassin spoke for the first time since they had met.
Bai Jing ignored him and curiously examined the silver pistol in his hand.
Calling it a pistol was practically an insult to the two guns, since they were already longer than an UZI.
He gave it a Gravity Scan, then found a button above the trigger. With a light flick, the front half of the gun clicked and rotated thirty degrees to the left!
Bai Jing gave it another casual shake, and it turned another thirty degrees!
There was now an angle of 120 degrees between the front and rear sections of the gun.
But Bai Jing knew that depending on how much force he used, the gun could keep turning until it reached zero degrees.
At that point, the gun could point forward while firing backward. It was practically on par with From Beijing with Love.
"What an exquisite design. A skilled gunman should be able to freely control the muzzle's direction. One muzzle can target enemies in six directions, and with two guns, all twelve directions are covered!" Bai Jing said. "That sort of surprise attack could produce unexpected results when the enemy let their guard down. And I noticed that this gun's machining is incredibly precise. The gaps at its joints are actually at the micron level. That should require a high-precision five-axis linkage machine tool, right? And it would have to be German-made or made in Japan!"
At last, the assassin stopped hesitating. He turned to flee, but Bai Jing raised his hand and shot him directly in the knee.
The bullet punched straight through his meniscus and left a crater in the polished marble floor.
Ricochets? Not a chance.
Bai Jing stood up, dug the bullet out of the marble pillar, and examined it carefully.
"The bullet tip is just ordinary alloy, but the metal used for the casing is strange. Every elemental atom extends protons outward, allowing all the atoms to couple tightly together, like the HIV virus! A metal like this should have exceptional sound absorption, energy absorption, shock resistance, and field-repulsion properties!" (I made that up, don't look into it too deeply.)
The last metal that had given him this feeling was the Adamantium he had dug out of Bullseye's body.
But these were clearly two different metals.
"It makes no sense for famous metals to be so easily encountered by me. But this metal wouldn't be hard for the upper class to obtain either, so could this be the legendary Vibranium?"
No wonder it could resist my gravity. Fortunately, Vibranium wasn't completely immune to gravity—it just had very high resistance.
But I'd already begun researching how to take Wakanda's Vibranium mine.
Something like this definitely couldn't be left to the enemy!
Leaving it to niggas who only knew how to wield spears and wear animal hides would be an even greater waste!
Bai Jing looked at the man in white again. "I don't believe an assassin organization could possess such highly precise machining capabilities, let alone be rich enough to make bullets out of Vibranium. And you were trying to swallow poison just now, weren't you? What ordinary gang could raise deathsworn warriors like you?"
Of course, Japan, Korea, and China were exceptions. Those countries never lacked people willing to give their lives for a greater cause.
But Bai Jing didn't believe white people, with freedom and democracy so deeply ingrained in them, possessed that kind of spirit either.
Unless they had been brainwashed from childhood.
The White man said nothing, but his eyes quietly swept over his surroundings.
"You're that so-called Brotherhood?" Bai Jing stepped closer to the White man, his gravity already penetrating his brain.
He couldn't read minds, but lie detection wasn't difficult. When a person's emotions fluctuated intensely, their brainwave patterns differed from normal.
For example, after Bai Jing asked that question, the White man's expression remained blank, but his brainwaves spiked violently.
"This world cannot tolerate assassins. No politician or capitalist would allow someone to take their lives at will!" Bai Jing said. "That's why even a famous underworld assassin like Bullseye has to make a living under Kingpin. Assassins like you, so well-equipped, well-trained, and brainwashed since childhood, should be government-funded, right?"
Bai Jing felt the man's brainwaves leap from the base of a mountain to its peak.
Looks like I guessed right again.
Although this assassin had learned to control his expression well and remained stone-faced, he didn't know that this world contained powers beyond ordinary understanding.
"Where is your headquarters?" Bai Jing asked. "New York?"
A peak!
Bai Jing smiled. "Then let's continue. Manhattan? Queens? The Bronx? Brooklyn?"
Another peak!
There was also Staten Island, but apparently there was no need to ask.
"All right, I'm done asking questions!" Bai Jing looked at the White man, whose eyes were filled with despair. He truly was despairing, and he should have been. Without saying a single word, he had already leaked every last detail about his organization!
He raised the gun and pressed it against the White man's forehead.
Boom.
Fuck, the recoil was huge!
"Sigh." Bai Jing stuffed the gun into the backpack he carried with him and let out a sigh.
Living alone in America really was difficult!
Bai Jing returned to the library. A student who had no idea what had happened asked, "Hey, there was a shooting outside. Is it over?"
"It's over!" Bai Jing shouted. "The shooter has been dealt with by a passing Kamen Rider!"
"Uh..." What the hell was a Kamen Rider?
Still, quite a few people had already gone outside to take a look.
Quite a few people also noticed that Bai Jing was the first person who had supposedly been shot. But Bai Jing was Asian and looked young, completely like a college student.
Naturally, they wouldn't think Bai Jing had attracted the assassins. They would only assume Columbia had suffered another campus shooter.
There was no helping it. That was just the state of the country. They were used to it.
"Are you all right? Do you need to see a doctor?" Several enthusiastic fellow students asked. "I'm from the medical school. I can help check your injuries while I'm at it!"
That last part was the real point, wasn't it?
"I'm fine, I'm fine. His aim was terrible. He didn't hit me!" Bai Jing didn't dare let them touch him. The gun was still tucked against his chest!
He slipped away from the crowd and began looking for books.
Speaking of which, domestic viewers should know Columbia's library well. The two protagonists of Detective Chinatown 2 had searched for talismans here.
The story had been set up that way because Columbia's library held a large collection of ancient books from the Celestial Empire, so it made logical sense.
As for how books from the Celestial Empire ended up here...
That was why the national hatred between China and America existed in every aspect of life.
But what Bai Jing was looking for wasn't that complicated. He only wanted a map of Brooklyn.
Ten minutes later, Bai Jing left the library with the map. By the time he reached the entrance, police cars were finally swarming in, and officers began setting up cordons!
"Oh, right. Maybe I don't need to go through all this trouble!" As Bai Jing watched the police arrive, he suddenly thought of a possibility.
He stepped into the crowd nearby and silently used the skill he had just learned in the library.
Gravity Shift!
A black hole's gravity was immense, but some light did not travel directly toward it. When that light passed by a black hole, it would be deflected by its powerful gravity.
Light that came close enough could even be captured by gravity and begin orbiting the black hole forever.
That ring of light around a black hole was scientifically known as an accretion disk.
This move was actually a basic application of gravity, especially effective against fast-moving attacks.
If an object came hurtling toward him at high speed and there wasn't time to condense gravity to block it directly, then he could simply use minimal force to alter its trajectory.
It was precisely because he had mastered this skill that he had dared to circle the pillar with that white-clad assassin while facing bullets that gravity could not clearly interfere with. After forcing out the other assassin two kilometers away, he had caught them both in one net.
Now, he used the same skill, except he bent the light shining on him by 180 degrees, guiding it around himself and onto the space in front of him.
Thus achieving Optical Camouflage!
Because Bai Jing's gravitational range only had a radius of 0.9312 meters, while he was—ah, damn it—180 centimeters tall, he had to crouch down and pretend to be a mushroom if he wanted to become invisible.
But trouble could also bring gains. For example, after crouching for half an hour, he saw someone wearing a suit identical in style to the assassin's except for the color flash an ID in front of a police officer.
"We're taking this body with us."
