The hot pot had yet to arrive.
Valentina sat in her chair, wiping away tears.
Bai Jing stood beside her, somewhat at a loss. Having been a lifelong bachelor in his previous life, he truly had no experience or skill in comforting girls.
"Um..." Bai Jing hesitated before handing her a piece of paper.
"I don't blame you..." Valentina took it, touched it, and realized it was the restaurant's complimentary tissue.
Though the quality was decent, it was nothing compared to what she usually used.
For some reason, that made Valentina suddenly want to laugh.
"I grew up in Sicily, learning all sorts of things. Before I was fifteen, I'd never even met him!" Valentina said.
"Hm?" Bai Jing frowned.
"I had many sisters, but those without talent would remain in Sicily forever. They didn't even have names. In the end, they would simply be assigned to some man in the family and bear children!" Valentina shook her head. "I didn't actually know whether he was truly my father. Or perhaps only those with talent were qualified to become his daughters."
Bai Jing clicked his tongue. There was such a thing?
"We received the finest upbringing and the best education, and we would also become his finest tools!" Valentina stood up. "Even so, I'm grateful to him!"
Bai Jing looked at Valentina without speaking.
"I want to go over there and take a look!" Valentina continued. "I want to know what the world that gave birth to you is like. Is that okay?"
She did not want to hate Bai Jing, but he was still the man who had killed her father.
If she could do it over again, Valentina would never have accepted this mission.
