Chapter 19: 18. Azure Starfire, Dawn Bringer
Hearing that the contents of the jar before him originated from Mount Targon, Yuan Chen finally showed a hint of understanding on his face.
Mount Targon, Server 7 of the Telecom region, also known as Targon Pit.
Although called a pit, there weren't actually many "pits" (idiots), it was purely a homophone joke. In obscure suburban servers, there were very few players. Once your rank was slightly higher, basically all your opponents in every match were the same few people, and this was the norm for most suburban servers on the Horse Server.
And in the League of Legends universe, Mount Targon could be said to hold an extraordinary status.
Whether it was the various nations on the Valoran Continent or the lost deserts of Shurima, Mount Targon represented supreme transcendence.
Its location was situated in the sparsely populated mountainous regions of western Shurima, the pinnacle of Runeterra.
It was far from civilization, unreachable, and only the most resolute pilgrims, in order to satisfy the deepest desires of their souls, could possibly ascend to its summit.
The very few who survived either became lost and dazed, their spirits vacant; or they transformed into beings beyond all comprehension. And that place was also the only place in Runeterra where the Immortal Heaven would linger.
Only Mount Targon could nurture such a treasure...
Thinking this, Yuan Chen's eyes were filled with awe.
But noticing the awe on Yuan Chen's face, Mordas did not feel proud or boastful. Instead, a look of embarrassment appeared on his face--
It wasn't enough to simply obtain a treasure to know how to use it. Otherwise, there wouldn't be so many legends about finding hidden gems in Runeterra...
"You recognize what this is?"
"I do, but this is also the first time I've seen it."
Yuan Chen gazed at the deep blue ethereal fire within the jar, his eyes filled with amazement--
Yuan Chen was certain that the number of people in Runeterra who could recognize this thing could be counted on one hand. The only reason he knew its true use and origin was thanks to the identification function attached to the system's Scout Skill.
And after understanding the value of this jar, or more accurately, the contents within the jar...
"Honestly, I'm even considering robbing and killing you..."
Looking at Mordas beside him, Yuan Chen's face was filled with emotion--
He didn't even know how to describe Mordas's luck. Regardless of how he obtained it, the quality of the item before him already proved its extraordinary nature and preciousness.
Hearing Yuan Chen even consider robbing and killing him, Mordas was startled, but quickly regained his composure. He looked at Yuan Chen and asked doubtfully:
"What exactly is this thing? Judging by your expression... is it very precious?"
"Extremely precious..."
Shaking his head with a thousand emotions, Yuan Chen said:
"Mm... to put it simply, if you gave this thing to any country in Noxus, or even on the entire Valoran Continent, you could instantly become one of the most powerful people in that country.
And once the news spread, a war that swept across the entire world would be perfectly understandable for the sake of this thing..."
"..." Hearing Yuan Chen's words, Mordas couldn't help but swallow.
"Is it... real?"
"How did you get it?"
"I got it on Mount Targon ten years ago."
Mordas said:
"When members of the Carnivore Beast Tribe reach a certain age, they embark on a hunt called a trial. To end this hunt, they must obtain a sufficiently precious prey and gain the elders' approval, otherwise, they won't be qualified to return to the tribe.
I was very young back then. After hearing the legends of Mount Targon, I wanted to hunt a sufficiently powerful monster there... but the truth is, my young self was utterly foolish.
I only stayed at the foot of Mount Targon for a few nights before being defeated by the pervasive cold and danger, and shamefully started my journey home...
Later, a group of children who were herding sheep were attacked by a Bo Mai, a type of carnivorous wild beast from Mount Targon. I instinctively rushed forward and saved the children, sustaining some minor injuries in the process.
After that, a deep blue flame flashed across the sky. By the time I came to my senses, this flame had landed in front of me."
"..." Upon hearing this, Yuan Chen didn't know how to describe Dalmoth's luck.
Recovering his composure, Yuan Chen said with some emotion after a moment:
"Have you heard the story of Aurelion Sol?"
"Of course, how could anyone on Runeterra not know? After all, it was the great Dragon King who created the world beneath our feet..." As he spoke, Mordas paused slightly, then said with disbelief: "Wait, could that deep blue flame be..."
"No, you're thinking too much."
"I knew it..." Hearing Yuan Chen's words, Mordas breathed a sigh of relief, with a hint of disappointment –
On one hand, he truly wished it was a gift from the Dragon King, but on the other hand, he also knew that if it really was a gift from the Dragon King, its revelation would spell disaster for the Carnivore Beast Tribe.
"It's a gift from a descendant of the Dragon King, an Azure Guardian Dragon."
"..." Hearing this, Mordas froze on the spot: "A descendant of the Creation Dragon God...?"
"Mm." Looking at the flame in the jar, Yuan Chen said with emotion:
"Most people on Runeterra actually misunderstand the stories about the Creation Dragon God Sol the Celestial."
Yuan Chen explained:
"Besides the Dragon God Aurelion Sol, the Immortal Heaven also has other innate deities. Furthermore, Runeterra was not created by the Dragon King, as Runeterra is the most special and precious planet among the stars.
However, the Dragon King is indeed a creator deity, because it was the Dragon God Aurelion Sol who created the sun in the sky. Only then did Runeterra gain the ability to nurture life. Among these, the Azure Guardian Dragon is a descendant of the Creation Dragon God Aurelion Sol."
"Azure Guardian Dragon..."
Upon hearing Yuan Chen's words, Mordas's scalp tingled--
Although he had never heard of the Azure Guardian Dragon, its status as a descendant of the Creation Dragon God Aurelion Sol was enough to prove the nobility of its bloodline and the value of its bestowed gifts...
Mordas processed his emotions, and so did Yuan Chen. Looking at the flame in the jar before him, Yuan Chen had not lied or exaggerated just now. The moment he saw the item's effect, he genuinely considered killing and robbing.
The reason was simple: it was a gift from a supreme being of the Immortal Heaven. While this flame might not amount to much for the Azure Guardian Dragon itself, for a life form of that level, even a slight favor could permanently change a person's life.
Name: Azure Starfire.
Status: Fading.
Source: Immortal Heaven · Azure Guardian Dragon.
Quality: 'Supreme'.
Item Description: A gift of fire from the Azure Guardian Dragon of the Immortal Heaven, containing a large amount of pure Order Power. However, due to continuous use, the Order Power within has been severely depleted. Nevertheless, it remains Supreme.
Effect: Activating its power to burn grants the activator the "Heavenly Power" effect, fully restoring their status, increasing all attributes by seventy percent, and reducing stamina and mana consumption by seventy percent.
Simultaneously, it imposes "Heavenly Pressure" on all hostile beings outside the Immortal Heaven within the range of the Firelight, decreasing all their attributes by seventy percent and having a high probability of causing deterrence, stun, disarm, fear, weakness, and spellbreak.
If the user possesses sufficient qualifications, the activated Order Power will initiate the legendary class "Dawn Bringer" trial upon activation.
Warning! You have already received the Demon's Blessing. The augmentation of Order Power has a high probability of disrupting the balance of power, leading to a violent death.
Gazing at the glass jar in his hand, Yuan Chen's eyes were full of thought.
Regarding the background story of the Star Forger Dragon King Aurelion Sol, the writers of League of Legends have been constantly revising it. From his initial pure and singular power, to the current perfected version, the Immortal Heaven now possesses many kin similar to Aurelion Sol, which is reflected in the card game Legends of Runeterra.
After the Dragon King Aurelion Sol was controlled by the Star Spirits' scheme, the Dragon King's friend, and a kin slightly younger than him, the Vow Sound Holy Dragon, intended to destroy the Titan Race along with the Dragon King. However, he was stopped by the Dragon King, the reason seemingly related to the uniqueness of Runeterra...
Because the Star Spirits framed the Dragon King through a scheme in the background story, many people believe the Dragon King might not be that strong. However, this is a misconception. The crown used by the Star Spirits to frame the Dragon King was not made by them.
It was a cursed evil artifact born from the depths of the Immortal Heaven. The reason the Dragon King did not destroy the Star Spirits, or the Titan Race, was because he knew the crown would not restrain him for long.
Compared to the Dragon King's long, even eternal, lifespan, the time the crown could restrain him was merely the duration of a few naps.
In fact, in the current storyline of the League of Legends universe, the Dragon King has already broken free from some of the restraints imposed by the cursed crown. Facing the War Spirit Pantheon, who believed he could control the Dragon King by mastering the crown, the Dragon King effortlessly killed him with a mere residual wave of energy.
For this reason, the Twilight Spirit herself found Zoe—the Dragon King was fond of this human girl, hoping to use this opportunity to mend their relationship.
Including the Vow Sound Holy Dragon and the Star Forger Dragon King, there are approximately four supreme beings of the same level as the Dragon King known. There is also one named the Heartbreak Eternal Dragon, who is akin to Yog-Sothoth in the League of Legends universe, with an interest in spreading knowledge.
But his interest was highly subjective. In the process of spreading knowledge, he would impart all of his knowledge, including creation, genesis, destruction, and chaos, to others in one go.
The final result was that the recipient of the knowledge would have their spirit overloaded and directly skip to the next life.
The last one was the Fire Phoenix, truly immortal and ageless, its age closest to that of the Dragon King among celestial beings.
Although called a Fire Phoenix, in reality, whether it was a Dragon King or a Fire Phoenix, they were essentially life, not creatures—though it was only a difference of one word, what it represented was worlds apart.
Simply put, the appearance of the Dragon King known to people was merely for their understanding. If the Dragon King wished, he could transform into any form.
As for the destructive power of the Dragon King itself...
Although there was no direct depiction, the constellation beings it created were placed in various corners of the stars to destroy enemies from beyond the stars.
From the lines in LOR, the Dragon King once commanded one of its constellation beings named Destroying Rhinoceros to destroy a certain galaxy. And Destroying Rhinoceros itself was not the Dragon King's favorite creation, nor was it the strongest or most perfect.
Of course, this was just the setting of the LOR universe at this stage...
The League of Legends universe itself had undergone several restarts. Coupled with the negligence of the Chinese server, even now, as a transmigrator, Yuan Chen could not be sure which world line his current world was.
It wasn't the ancient version, anyway.
But regardless of the circumstances, as a descendant of the Dragon King, the Azure Guardian Dragon, even if the growth cycle of such celestial beings might be terrifyingly long, it possessed immortal and great power from the moment of its birth.
Used reasonably, the Order Power contained within the Azure Starfire was enough to forge a large number of top-tier divine weapons of at least Epic quality.
And if one could resonate with it, they could directly transfer to the Legendary Profession of Dawn Bringer...
Thinking this, Yuan Chen couldn't help but narrow his eyes...
Dawn Bringer was one of the very popular skin series in the game League of Legends. It corresponded to Night Bringer, representing Order Power and Chaos Power respectively. The first to possess these two skin sets were Dawn Bringer Riven and Night Bringer Yasuo.
When the skins were first released, the Horse Server even held a voting event to let players decide who, Dawn Bringer or Night Bringer, would ultimately achieve victory in the comic.
Although the players' vote ultimately favored Night Bringer Yasuo, in the skin universe's lore, both sides suffered heavy losses and died.
Well, Darius and Garen's God King skins were also set within this skin universe, belonging to a very well-known parallel world line outside the main universe.
Thinking this, Yuan Chen turned his gaze to Mordas beside him and said, "How many times have you used this thing?"
"Hmm..." Hearing this, Mordas fell into thought and said, "I've used it about seven times."
"Did it have any effect?"
"Very strong!" Mordas said.
"Every time I use it, my enemies immediately fall into an extremely special state, incredibly weak, even like lambs to the slaughter... However, I can feel that each use consumes the power within the flames, so it's not an abuse.
There were several times when it was through these flames that I managed to counter-kill ferocious beasts... Other than that, I haven't felt anything else."
Hearing Mordas's words, a flicker of disappointment crossed Yuan Chen's eyes--
It was clear that Mordas did not possess the aptitude to become a "Dawn Bringer." Otherwise, even with slightly weaker aptitude, using it seven times consecutively would have been enough to trigger the job change trial.
"What's wrong? Is there some kind of loss?"
Mordas keenly sensed Yuan Chen's disappointment. In response, Yuan Chen shook his head and said, "It can't be considered a loss. Being able to survive is the greatest gain."
"The dragon's might within this flame can forcibly cripple all abilities of life outside the Immortal Heaven. Furthermore, if the user possesses the aptitude, they can become the legendary 'Dawn Bringer'."
"Dawn Bringer?"
"You can understand it as a warrior even more powerful than the Ascended of the ancient Shurima Empire, or even the chosen of Mount Targon."
Upon hearing this, Mordas froze on the spot.
Mordas didn't know what a Dawn Bringer was, but the power possessed by the Ascended and the chosen of Mount Targon were myths that every resident living on the continent of Shurima worshipped...
