Background / History

The Living Person Apartment periodically assigns residents dangerous supernatural missions. Surviving a mission counts as completion; completing ten missions allows a resident to unbind from the apartment and leave. Refusal to comply with the apartment's requirements results in erasure by unspecified means 13.

Mission details manifest as glowing green writing on a wall within the apartment. The displayed text identifies the mission number, requirements, deadline, and listed participants 17.

During the Sapphire Mall incident, the system demonstrated that it could alter a mission after issuance: Gao Tian, initially only an observer, was added to the participant list while the mission was underway. Shata stated that she had never previously seen a Green Text Mission add a participant mid-mission 22 23. Upon completion, it compensated Gao Tian by treating both his first and second missions as complete and issuing a combined reward 25.

Operational Rules

• Missions are issued at regular intervals and are inherently dangerous supernatural events 13.
• Survival is treated as mission completion; the apartment does not appear to care how a participant survives 13 16.
• A resident who completes ten missions may leave the Living Person Apartment 13 14.
• Failure to comply with the apartment's requirements results in erasure 13.
• Mission text can include objectives, time limits, locations, and named participants 17 43.
• The system may seal a mission area off from the outside world, as occurred when white mist prevented entry to or exit from Sapphire Mall 22.

Known Anomalies

• The Sapphire Mall mission's participant list changed after the mission had already begun, adding Gao Tian without prior notice 22 23.
• The mission required a “complete human form,” but did not require all six assembled parts to originate from the same person. The missing head was ultimately substituted with the face of a female star displayed on an anomalous mall advertisement screen 23 24.
• Although the Sapphire Mall requirements appeared fulfilled, the assembled body immediately underwent Corpse Transformation and targeted mission participants. Shata concluded that the mission had been designed to kill participants whether they failed to assemble the corpse or completed the assembly too early 24.
• As compensation for its anomalous addition of Gao Tian, the system credited him with two completed missions and awarded the Ghost Card 25.
