Asuna initially appears in Aincrad as a cloaked, frightened Player who encounters Wang Yang near an exit. Believing that he has come for the same reason, she hurriedly attempts to leave after telling him to abandon the hope of rescue. 44

Her early period in SAO is marked by isolation and uncertainty. However, during the battle against the Goblin Lord, she chooses to help the other Players rather than remain apart from them. This decision marks the first emergence of the resolve that later defines her as a frontline clearer. 88
