Truman withdrew his gaze calmly, no longer paying attention to Badheil, and said to Omebella, "I do not see any possibility of success."
"Then who else can you choose?" Omebella stared at Truman with her single eye. "The Phoenix or the Demon? Or perhaps that Misfortune who has yet to ascend to godhood?"
Adjacent pathways were impossible to choose, and the Demon was equally out of the question. Gregali the Phoenix was dormant in the Underworld, her strength far inferior to that of the Giant Race.
But... I really am the Pope of the weakest faction!
Of course, the Church of Night had been secretly proselytizing for hundreds of years, but it still lagged too far behind the other Ancient God factions.
Truman fell silent, but to Omebella, this already looked like he was wavering.
"You still dare to talk about cooperation? Lilith has been dead for hundreds of years." Truman suddenly spoke these words, causing both Omebella and Badheil to fall silent.
The fall of three Ancient Gods had pushed the mutual suspicion among them to the extreme.
"So this is not an alliance, merely each taking what they need," Omebella finally said. "Afterward, we each go our own way."
"Everything is decided by my Lord." Truman put on a show of praying to the deity, but Sasrir and the Ancient Sun God had already signaled to him that he was to improvise as he saw fit.
The statue of the Creator cast pure, brilliant sunlight down upon Truman.
"The Lord has brought me here to incite the Giants and the Elves to take up arms." Truman recited the Oracle from the "Lord" in a chanting tone.
"War with the Elves!" Both Omebella and Badheil were stunned, but after a moment of silence, they agreed on behalf of the Giant King. Perhaps they had anticipated this all along.
To cooperate under such circumstances, one had to pay a price first and demonstrate sincerity.
"You shall see." Omebella even invited Truman to travel to the Giant King's Court.
"Very well!" To their surprise, Truman agreed immediately, and along with Hermes, he prepared to depart for the Giant King's Court with the two giants.
He had never been to the Giant King's Court before; he might as well take the opportunity to see the Giant Race of the present day.
Omebella and Badheil did not find this strange. After hundreds of years of development, the current Giant King's Court was a Divine Kingdom of Miracles that could rival the Dragon's City of Miracles, possessing immense strength.
This Angel of Dreams would be unable to stir up any trouble there.
The three angels and one Saint moved with great speed, and the four of them soon arrived at the Giant King's Court.
Amidst a brilliant yet somber twilight, Truman saw the Giant King's Court as it stood today.
In that region where the twilight was frozen, there were countless colossal palaces, towers, and majestic architectural complexes. Grand and ornate, they stood silent in the twilight, filled with a sense of epic history.
Following the Giant Queen and the Eldest Son of the Giant King into the court, Truman was naturally welcomed with great fanfare. The light of dawn and twilight shone together, and the roars of the Giant Race's guards seemed to make the entire world tremble.
This was the Giant Race of the Era of Twins.
The Giant population had grown significantly, and thanks to potion formulas, the general intelligence and rationality of the Giant Race had been greatly enhanced. Their strength was now truly terrifying.
"Greetings to the Queen, greetings to the Prince!" Two tower-like Silver Knights knelt on one knee, saluting Omebella and Badheil.
Having two Sequence 3 "Silver Knights" guarding the gate—this was the absolute peak of the Giant Race.
"Let us enter." Under Omebella's guidance, Truman officially stepped into the Giant King's Court, arriving in the Divine Kingdom of the Giant King.
Truman's senses pulsed; he detected a gaze, filled with indifference, madness, and the rotting scent of impending dusk.
It was the gaze of the Giant King.
The injuries this Ancient God had sustained during that battle of Ancient Gods had naturally healed, but his mental state remained that of an Ancient God—cold and bloodthirsty.
"This is our army!" Badheil said with an arrogant tone, pointing toward a massive plaza within the court.
Such a plaza surpassed Truman's imagination; it was large enough to hold ten thousand giants, and within it stood a perfectly disciplined army of giants.
Truman scanned the area. There were thousands of giants here, and a brief sensing revealed that at the very least, they were all mid-to-high sequence Beyonder creatures; there were even nearly ten Silver Knights!
In this era, which later generations would call mythological, Beyonders appeared in the form of armies, and even Demi-gods and Saints were among them.
"Ten Sequence 3s? And these are just the powers I can see..." Such a Giant Race was indeed powerful enough.
"The Elves have betrayed our King. As the King's subjects, we must fight for the King's honor!"
"March toward the Elf race!" Bradel, the God of Honor, merely glanced at Truman without paying him any mind, immediately preparing to lead the troops to crusade against the Elves.
"Traitors..." The corner of Truman's mouth twitched. The title of "traitor" was subtle, as both the Giant King and the Elf King accused the other of betraying Lilith and the covenant, which had led to the terrifying fall of the Ancient Gods hundreds of years ago.
Both Ancient Gods were convinced of their own judgment, and the other Ancient Gods and angels also felt that both were simply unwilling to bear the infamy and thus blamed each other, leaving no one to suspect that another possibility existed.
The situation within the Fog of History at that time had been chaotic. The Demon Wolf had gone mad, the King of Exotic Species had failed to scavenge the spoils, and Lilith had decisively detonated herself. It had all happened too fast; even the Ancient Gods could not pierce through that Fog of History to see the truth.
"In a few days, you will hear the news of our all-out war with the Elves, in the name of punishing the traitors!" Badheil declared, noting that the army here was merely the vanguard.
"Good! I shall wait!" Truman took one last look at the army, nodded slowly, and followed a Giant attendant into a palace.
Yet, Truman had rested in the Giant palace for less than half a day when a violent wind and thunder smashed into the Giant King's Court.
"Almir! You traitor!" An angry roar swept in like a tidal wave. Even Hermes could not resist it; illusory Dragon Scales crawled all over his body, showing signs of losing control.
"Quiet." Truman spoke softly, suppressing the madness erupting within Hermes, and looked outward.
"As expected of the Elf King, known for his tyranny—he has attacked directly." Truman watched that ball of incandescent thunder, his eyes grave.
The Giant Race's march into Elf territory, under the banner of punishing traitors, had caused the Elf King to fly into a rage. Disregarding everything else, he had transformed into a bolt of lightning and slaughtered his way to the Giant King's Court.
"Today, I will teach you a lesson!" The Elf King's furious voice resounded throughout the entire Giant King's Court, and the thunder in the sky reached its peak at this moment, crazily striking the most majestic temple.
"Soniathrym!" The twilight surged at this moment; vegetation withered, and the void decayed.
The Giant King Almir walked out from the temple, wearing Armor of Twilight filled with a sense of decay, carrying an exaggerated, blood-colored Greatsword of Twilight. Its tip hung low, the gleaming blade flashing with a dangerous light.
