Background / History

Truman began as a human pontiff serving the Goddess of Night. Fearful that sleep would cause him to lose himself in beautiful dreams, he negotiated with her: he would use the Book of Dreams to soothe her madness, while she would help him overcome his lethargy. He subsequently proclaimed himself her pontiff and composed her honorific name. 1

After leaving the City of Darkness, Truman met Hermes, recognized him as human, and taught him Sequence knowledge. Hermes swore loyalty to Truman as “Dream,” while Truman sent him back to spread mystical knowledge among humanity. 3 7

Truman convened the Dream Council, where gods and angels gathered under rules he established. He later became the Ancient Sun God's Angel of Dreams, building a personal following through preaching, healing, monster hunting, and the protection of human city-states. 12 31

His powers grew through the Book of Dreams, replicated authorities, and accumulated divine anchors. After surviving the Elf King's divine punishment, Truman attained the Body of Dreams and awakened Myriad Manifestations, which let him take on forms and authorities associated with other beings. 60 61

In later eras, Truman established Gensokyo and the Illusion Realm, negotiated alliances with figures such as Solomon, and prepared Earth for the apocalypse. His struggle against the Sea of Dreams ultimately drove him to collect thirteen True God authorities and stabilize himself through a Myriad Manifestations ritual. 122 192 219

By the apocalypse, Truman had become a Great Old One. He confronted Outer Deities beyond Earth's barrier, rescued Lilith from the Mother of Depravity, and trapped the wills of several Pillar-level existences in customized dreams. 564 587
