Background
Zhou Er was born the legitimate eldest son of Zhou Zefa, a wealthy Yunyang City medicinal-herb merchant. Sickly since childhood and predicted to die before sixteen, he recovered memories of a previous life on his sixteenth birthday. In that former life, he was a 21st-century gamer who died after being struck by a missile while abroad. His awakened cheat restored three Equipment Slots, allowing equipped items and techniques to grant attributes. 1
His first equipped item, the Five Animals Health Technique, restored his complexion and granted ten additional years of lifespan. Zhou Er then began gathering the five required animal organs to permanently solidify its health and longevity effects. 1 12
Although Master Jide confirmed that Zhou Er lacked spiritual roots, he accepted Zhou Er into Xiayun Sect to repay a debt owed to Zhou Er’s grandfather. Zhou Er entered the Outer Sect’s Wutong District, where he began cultivation, learned talisman crafting, and accumulated attributes through deliberate equipment swapping and solidification. 2 3 15
After his progress accelerated to Qi Refining Layer 7, Zhou Er left Xiayun Sect to avoid attracting attention. He adopted the name Cang Er at Jiaolu Market, built a reputation as a Talisman Master, and later relocated to Bashui Immortal City in search of a Foundation Establishment Pill. 16 17 20
Appearance
Zhou Er’s original frailty gave way to the complexion and vigor of a healthy youth after he equipped the Five Animals Health Technique. He is later described as handsome and possessing an unusual temperament. 1 46
- Restored rosy complexion after years of illness. 1
- Can enlarge his body to nearly three meters through Size Manipulation. 27
- Can disguise himself as other people through Divine Machine Myriad Forms, including assuming a female Skin Painting Devil Cultivator’s appearance. 47
- Uses the identities Cang Er and Lei Hao to conceal his true identity. 17 46
Personality
Zhou Er is methodical and intensely goal-oriented. He treats cultivation as a long-term survival project: he prioritizes permanent attributes, measures the costs of resources, and changes plans when an approach would expose him or consume too much time. His decision to leave Xiayun Sect after an unusually rapid rise reflects both caution and awareness of the danger posed by attention. 11 16
He is also pragmatic in relationships. Zhou Er values reciprocity and accepts help from friends and allies, but he avoids entanglements that could compromise his safety or cultivation. He maintains distance from Xu Jiayun, rejects Jiang Liyue’s suspicious overtures, and registers under false names when necessary. 17 21 23
Despite this guarded nature, he repeatedly supports those close to him. He lends Lin Shiyu the Purple Cloud Furnace, helps Ning Kuixin establish her foundation, rescues Bai Fengting, and risks conflict with the Skin Painting Devil Cultivators for Ning Kuixin’s family. 16 46 47
