"How are those two brats doing?" Lord Frieza sat on his personal throne, holding a glass of wine in his right hand as he expressionlessly questioned Zarbon and Dodoria beside him.
"Lord Frieza... they've been behaving normally. They showed no resistance at all when we told them that Planet Vegeta had been destroyed by a planetary collision..." Zarbon immediately stepped forward and reported softly.
"Is that so?" Lord Frieza showed no reaction. He merely took a sip of wine before speaking. Zarbon and Dodoria fell silent as well, because they understood Lord Frieza's temperament best. Such an indifferent expression meant he was considering something. Though Lord Frieza looked glorious as the emperor of the universe, there were still people stronger than him—for instance, his father, King Cold, or his older brother, Cooler. That was precisely the subject Lord Frieza could not tolerate being touched upon.
After all, Lord Frieza wanted to become a true emperor of the universe, not some false one. That was why he had his subordinates constantly develop technology and conquer planets—to continuously expand his forces and prepare for the future.
"Give those two brats a chance. If they survive, let them continue. If they die, then forget it." Lord Frieza swirled his glass, gazed out at the universe beyond the window, and spoke calmly. The two brats he referred to were naturally Vegeta and Betkas. As for the tagalong Nappa, Lord Frieza had simply cast him aside and ignored him.
"Understood, Lord Frieza. I'll make the arrangements at once." Zarbon gave an elegant bow before replying.
"Oh, right... don't play them to death. If the difficulty is too high, it won't do for them."
"Understood... Lord Frieza!" Zarbon froze for a moment, then answered with a smile. He turned and walked out of the room, leaving Lord Frieza and Dodoria standing there, each lost in thought.
"Just how much potential do those two brats have? I hope they don't disappoint me..." Lord Frieza took another sip of wine, looked out the window, and spoke faintly. Dodoria remained silent beside him. He did not dare interrupt.
"Hey, brats... Lord Zarbon wants you in the meeting room." At that moment, an ugly-faced alien pushed open the door to Betkas and the others' room and spoke impatiently.
"Got it!" Betkas curled his lips into a smile and looked at Vegeta, only to find him wearing an indifferent expression. Nappa, meanwhile, seemed somewhat nervous. The alien who had delivered the message merely curled his lips in displeasure before leaving.
"Come on, Big Brother Vegeta. I'm sure something interesting will happen this time." Betkas looked at Vegeta with a smile.
"Hmph!" Vegeta only snorted coldly and said nothing. He got up and headed for the door on his own. Betkas smiled slightly and followed him, with Nappa quickly trailing behind.
The three of them wandered leisurely through Frieza's spaceship. After walking for a while, they finally reached the meeting room from their memories. It was the largest room in the ship, and could also be considered an exit. Vegeta fearlessly shoved open the door and swaggered inside, making Betkas look at him with disdain. If it were me, I'd have kicked it open. That would've been much more imposing. Unfortunately, he neither dared say nor do that. His strength was the issue—at just over three thousand battle power, he was merely a low-ranking grunt with potential. Vegeta and Nappa were no better.
"You're just in time. Lord Frieza intends to further expand his forces, so he plans to send some capable subordinates to attack other planets. As Saiyans, you should be quite familiar with this sort of thing, so I won't explain further." After the door opened, Betkas, Vegeta, and Nappa found that fake woman Zarbon standing before three round spaceships, speaking to them with narrowed eyes.
Tch. Capable subordinates? They just want to test our strength! Betkas curled his lips disdainfully and muttered inwardly.
"As for the coordinates of the planet you'll be attacking, they have already been set in your spaceships. All you need to do is eliminate the native inhabitants of that planet, then return and report to us. We'll send someone to take it over afterward." Zarbon spoke with a serious expression.
We fight to the death killing people, and you bastards reap the benefits? Betkas complained inwardly again, though he only looked somewhat eager on the surface. He had never actually carried out this kind of "war" to invade another planet before. Neither had Vegeta or Nappa. In the original story, Nappa should have been attacking another planet at this time, but for some reason, he was following Vegeta this time.
"Understood. Please report to Lord Frieza that we will swiftly complete this mission and return victorious!" Vegeta said with a serious expression, as though he intended to risk his life to complete the mission. Betkas knew, however, that Vegeta was merely putting on an act. As for Frieza, he admired his strength but did not submit to him.
"Good. Then get moving! You should have undergone practical simulation training for operating spaceships." Zarbon said flatly.
Betkas, Vegeta, and Nappa walked toward the round spaceships with different expressions. They each patted the top of a spherical spaceship, and the hatch opened in an instant, revealing a seat along with something resembling a computer screen and keyboard inside.
All three sat down, and the hatches closed instantly. An opening suddenly appeared above Frieza's spaceship, and the three spherical spaceships shot out at once, becoming three streaking meteors that vanished into the universe.
"Hehehe! Although Lord Frieza won't let you go to a planet with high battle power, you'll still have to suffer a little this time. Only then will you truly understand Lord Frieza's greatness!" Zarbon watched the three spaceships vanish and raised the corner of his mouth in a cold smile, secretly thinking to himself. He then turned and headed toward Frieza's room. As Frieza's attendant, he still needed to report the situation.
Far away in space, Betkas, Vegeta, and Nappa had embarked on their first invasion mission, unaware of just how great a crisis awaited them ahead.
