16:50
The students had already been dismissed for the day, but it was only the second day of school, and the clubs were recruiting new members in the main gymnasium after class.
The gymnasium was packed with people. Apart from the tables set up by some of the clubs, there was nowhere to sit.
Making his way through the crowd, Gojo Satoru walked straight up to the large table beside a sign that read "Cooking Club" and looked over the various cakes and desserts on display.
He asked directly,
"Can I eat these?"
"Huh?!"
Gojo Satoru had appeared out of nowhere, and his towering figure startled the Cooking Club senior.
Seeing her frozen in place, Gojo Satoru waved a hand in front of her face and asked again,
"Senior? Are you okay?"
The senior, who was sitting in her chair, finally snapped out of it when he waved his hand. She hurriedly replied,
"Y-yes, of course! Help yourself! You're a first-year, right? I haven't seen you before. You're really tall!"
As she spoke, she handed him a slice of cake.
Taking the cake, Gojo Satoru started eating without hesitation. When he finished, he remarked,
"There's too much cream. You should use less."
Then he picked up some of the other desserts and criticized them as he sampled each one.
"This one's too sweet."
"This one's a little bland."
"This one leaves your mouth and throat feeling dry."
"Why is this jelly so firm I can't pick it up? It's like pudding!"
The empty plates were piling up across the table. It wasn't just the senior who had handed him the cake—even the other club members realized something was wrong!
"If you keep eating, there won't be any left! And you keep saying they're not good, so why are you eating so much?!"
After eating the last Kitafuku, Gojo Satoru replied calmly,
"It's delicious! I'm just giving my opinion. I never said it wasn't good. Well, see you later, and thanks for the food!"
Seeing Gojo Satoru about to turn and leave, the senior who had first spoken to him hurriedly asked,
"Hey, aren't you going to join the club? If you like the food, why not come in and learn how to make it?"
"No thanks. I only stopped because you said to help myself. I have no intention of joining any clubs. I was just looking around."
Gojo Satoru waved his hand as he spoke.
The Cooking Club seniors stared after him, then looked at the table full of empty plates, stunned.
"What was that?!"
After leaving the Cooking Club, he felt his throat drying out. It was uncomfortable.
Had I really eaten too much? I should've gone to the Tea Ceremony Club first and grabbed a cup of tea.
He regretted not stopping at the Tea Ceremony Club he'd passed earlier.
"Well, I can still go get a drink now!"
"Waiter! Could I get a cup of coffee, please?"
Since most people who enjoyed tea were refined young ladies, the club was much quieter than the others, which were full of noise and activity.
The seniors simply sat in their chairs and drank tea calmly. They made no effort to recruit new members.
"Bang!"
Startled by the sudden shout, the seniors all looked toward Gojo Satoru.
One senior, who looked like she had a short temper, slammed the teacup she was holding down onto the tray. She even ignored the tea that splashed out.
"This is the Tea Ceremony Club. We don't have coffee! And we're not waiters!"
Her angry voice rang out, and her icy gaze seemed ready to swallow Gojo Satoru whole!
"Huh? It isn't? Everyone's sitting around, drinking tea so leisurely. I thought this was some kind of special lounge."
Gojo Satoru smiled as he explained, paying no attention to the many angry stares.
But the senior clearly didn't believe him and continued to press him.
"You're not blind, are you? You're wearing a blindfold, but you've been weaving through the crowd just fine. You don't seem to have any trouble seeing.
"So why couldn't you see the sign right next to you? It says 'Tea Ceremony Club' in huge letters."
No wonder she's such a refined young lady. She notices everything. There's no way I can talk my way out of this.
"Don't worry about the details. Could I get a cup of tea first? I'm a little thirsty."
Seeing that he couldn't talk his way out of it, he quickly changed the subject.
"I refuse. Please leave. The Tea Ceremony Club doesn't welcome rude people!"
"Don't be so quick to refuse. I can pay in points."
"Who cares about your—"
Before she could finish, Gojo Satoru interrupted her with his offer.
"Twenty thousand Private Points for one simple cup of black tea. I can pay in advance."
"Would you like sugar?"
Watching the senior stand up and begin preparing the tea, Gojo Satoru's mouth twitched a little. He continued teasing her,
"Yes, please. But I liked you better when you were acting so haughty. Could you go back to that?"
Hearing this, the senior wiped the smile from her face and put on that same unapproachable expression again. She handed him the freshly brewed black tea with an icy look.
Taking the tea, he drank it all in one go, completely unbothered by how scalding it was. After all, his current physical constitution could hardly be called human. Compared to boiling water that barely bothered him, the dryness in his throat was far worse.
"Ah, I'm back to full health!"
The others stared in shock as Gojo Satoru drank the tea brewed with boiling water. They had wanted to warn him, but it was already too late.
Everyone watched him in disbelief. One of them even reached out to touch the teapot.
"Ah! It's so hot!"
She quickly pulled back her little hand and stared at her scalded finger, her eyes watering from the pain.
Seeing her friend get burned, the senior asked in astonishment,
"Can't you feel pain? Even so, that was just-boiled water! It should've scalded your throat even if you couldn't feel it. Are you an idiot?"
"It's fine. I was born with a high tolerance for heat."
This is way beyond what a high tolerance for heat can explain!
She wanted to yell at him, but her upbringing since childhood forced her to stay calm. She could only scream inwardly.
After transferring the points, he immediately left. If he stayed any longer, he had no idea what might happen next! Even Gojo Satoru, thick-skinned as he was, couldn't quite handle the Tea Ceremony Club seniors' murderous stares.
After eating and drinking his fill, he visited all kinds of clubs. Along the way, he also received a letter from a bun-haired senior.
Tokyo Metropolitan Advanced Nurturing High School Student Council Invitation
He tossed the letter straight into the trash and recalled,
That was Tachibana Akane from the Student Council, wasn't it? She was really cute, but it was a shame her head was full of Student Council President Horikita Manabu.
On the gymnasium stage, after one club president after another had finished introducing their club, Horikita Manabu walked up with a stern expression.
Standing on stage, Horikita Manabu said nothing. He simply scanned the students below, pausing for one extra second when his gaze reached Gojo Satoru.
"I am the Student Council President of this school, Horikita Manabu of Class 3-A."
It was a simple introduction, yet his powerful presence alone quieted the gymnasium.
Watching Horikita Manabu speak onstage, Gojo Satoru couldn't help but marvel,
As expected of the best Student Council President in the school's history. He must be the most talented person here after Koenji Rokusuke, right?
After Horikita Manabu finished his speech, the quiet gymnasium grew lively again.
"Gojo Satoru, is there a club you're thinking of joining?"
Hearing a voice from behind as he wandered around, Gojo Satoru turned to look. There stood the "parents" of the "little angel."
Ayanokoji Kiyotaka and Horikita Suzune,
And the question just now had come from Ayanokoji Kiyotaka.
"Oh, if it isn't the poker-faced guy and the cold-faced girl?"
As soon as she heard that, Horikita Suzune swung her right fist at Gojo Satoru's waist, but he dodged it by sidestepping.
Seeing her fist easily evaded, Horikita Suzune's brow twitched with anger. She demanded,
"What do you mean by that?!"
