Geography and Environment

Qiongzhou is a remote, comparatively poor province in the northeast of the Nine Provinces. It is described as barren and sparsely vegetated, with extensive gray-black stone mountains; the land remains scarred by the Desolate Barbarian Rebellion of five centuries earlier. 3 38

History

Desolate Barbarian Rebellion

Five hundred years before the present story, the Desolate Barbarian Rebellion devastated Qiongzhou, scorching vast stretches of land and severely disrupting its recovery. The later “Savage War” is likewise associated with the near-erasure of Qiongzhou’s native aristocratic families. 3 38 248

The province’s modern aristocratic houses accumulated power after the war, but their foundations are portrayed as comparatively shallow. Many prize supposedly pure human bloodlines despite the enduring presence of Desolate blood among Qiongzhou’s population. 244 248

Recovery and Luohuang Mountain

Luohuang Mountain became Qiongzhou’s foremost stabilizing power after the rebellion. It has retained three Spirit Transformation Realm cultivators for five centuries and remains a first-rank immortal sect. 38

Its disciples and figures—including Si Qinglan—are a source of provincial pride, especially because Qiongzhou’s Immortal Path is widely considered underdeveloped compared with other provinces. 38 139 199

Bloodline and Discrimination

Desolate ancestry is a major social stigma in Qiongzhou. Open longing for non-human races is taboo, while visible Desolate traits and mixed bloodlines carry political and social consequences. 3 17

Initiation Requirements

Cultivation is formally regulated through Dinghuang Prefecture. Any immortal sect recruiting a disciple in Qiongzhou must register the recruit, test them in the Heart-Cleansing Pool, have them contemplate the Human Emperor Scroll, and obtain a Human Dao Seal before cultivation may officially begin. 3 70

Major Events

Mountain Spirit Calamity

A large Mountain Spirit clan roamed Qiongzhou’s counties, causing extensive casualties and repeatedly evading extermination through its leader’s apparent precognition. Cultivators from Qiongzhou and neighboring provinces gathered at the Eshui River front to suppress it. 27 127

Dinghuang Prefecture organized the response through battle-merit rankings, bounties, and frontline mobilization. Its authority was limited by the influence of Qiongzhou’s powerful clans, whose cooperation was necessary to bring the crisis under control. 111 128

Wangyou and Delusive Immortal Mansions

Wangyou Immortal Mansion was identified as a precursor to Zhuoquan Immortal Mansion and drew Qiongzhou’s strongest young cultivators. Its mutation into the Delusive Immortal Mansion, together with the Celestial Masters’ theft of the mansion, became a province-wide political crisis. 112 142 204 209

After the mansion was cleared, Zuo Ling used his granted wish to request additional spirit veins for Qiongzhou. The resulting branch vein transformed the Eshui River region into a blessed land. 192 299

Zhuoquan Immortal Mansion

Zhuoquan Immortal Mansion is regarded as one of Qiongzhou’s most significant Immortal Mansions in centuries and is tied to the province’s future fortune. 32 112 209

Sanqing Immortal Sect’s involvement was controversial because Zhuoquan had originally been recognized as an Immortal Fate belonging to Qiongzhou. 200 210 Negotiations to exchange Qingzhou’s unfavorable Pool Kingdom ultimately failed, and Qiongzhou’s factions entered Zhuoquan in separate batches. 292 299
