Biology and Society
Zerg warriors are living beings gestated directly by Zerg Mother Emperors. More than 90% of warrior types do not need conventional reproduction, while only Mother Emperors are guaranteed complete reproductive capability. A Planet Level 1 Mother Emperor can produce one Primal Seed with a one-in-a-billion chance of becoming a Mother Emperor; at Star Level 1, she can produce ten seeds with a one-in-ten-million chance each; at World Master level, she can produce ten thousand seeds with a one-in-ten-thousand chance each 499 626.
Most Zerg warriors possess only simple consciousness and combat instincts. They are commonly treated as expendable genetic stock by Mother Emperors, but the rare warrior who develops independent consciousness can attain status equal to a Mother Emperor and has exceptional growth potential 471 681.
Zerg territory contains life planets covered with dormant warriors. Patrol units identify warriors with insufficient energy reserves and wake them to replenish energy, reducing the upkeep burden of maintaining massive swarms 499.
- Mother Emperors at Domain Lord level and above are granted territories by the Zerg race; private territories generally offer better resources than public resource regions 499.
- Zerg society includes specialized development and logistics warriors, as well as Mother Emperors focused on development and logistics rather than combat 499.
- Zerg warriors are classified both by species—such as mantis, ant, lepidoptera, shadow, jade, cross-star, and star types—and by function, including reconnaissance, assassination, long-range attack, assault, and logistics 165 468 520.
Zerg Mother Emperors
Mother Emperors are delicate-bodied soul masters who command nests and legions capable of threatening star systems. Even at World Master level, a sufficiently developed Mother Emperor can possess combat power capable of heavily injuring a King Elementary Immortal through a properly assembled swarm strike 466 467 509.
Each warrior gestated by a Mother Emperor carries an attached portion of her consciousness and soul. This lets a swarm merge attacks onto one point with precision that is extremely difficult for the Machine Race to replicate at comparable scale 466.
Command and Coordination
- Perfect law-based control is generally limited to around 10,000 warriors; beyond that point, precise coordination degrades 467 509.
- At more than one million warriors, a Mother Emperor can usually give only broad signals and commands, leaving most fighters to act on instinct 467.
- A large combined strike requires high-grade warriors, time to gather energy, and a target unable to evade or interrupt the process 467.
- Around 350,000 World Master Banskana Zerg may be needed to heavily wound a King Elementary Immortal; less mature species require even greater numbers 467.
- Mother Emperors can sense the life and death of their own warriors with great clarity within roughly ten million kilometers, making their legions effective guards even without perfect control 574.
Resource Burden
Unlike mechanical legions, Zerg warriors are living beings that continually consume energy. A swarm can endure for years or millennia, but maintaining it over one or two epochs can exhaust a Mother Emperor’s resources and lead to warrior deaths 468.
- A peak World Master warrior costs at least 3 Hunyuan Units to gestate; turning one into a Zerg King requires roughly one hundred times that base investment 509.
- More capable warrior species can cost dozens of Hunyuan Units each, while a Thunder-Type Ouma costs more than 180 Hunyuan Units before King-level cultivation costs are considered 509.
- Mother Emperors generally cultivate only a few main warrior species, since supporting too many branches severely dilutes resources and long-term potential 467 468.
- Immortal-level Mother Emperors alleviate the basic maintenance problem, but then face the separate limits of production capacity and the cost of sustaining stronger warriors 468.
Zerg Warriors
| Warrior type | Classification / role | Documented traits |
|---|---|---|
| Green Mantis | Combat-type Mantis | Common cannon fodder in outer-territory warfare; forms the bulk of Fu’s Ancient King Legion when properly cultivated 165 471 |
| Blood Mantis | Command-type Mantis | Directs other Mantis-types to maximize their tactical effectiveness 468 |
| Gold Mantis | Support-type Mantis | Amplifies the attack and defense of nearby Mantis-types 468 |
| Green-Line Mantis | Support-type Mantis | Rapidly heals and restores damaged Mantis-types 468 |
| Hunter Mantis | One of seven extreme Mantis-types | Exceptionally agile and fast; Fu’s legion developed unusual black filaments that made them difficult to kill 468 471 |
| Split Mantis | One of seven extreme Mantis-types | Can create up to 10,000 short-lived copies that absorb remains to replicate the deceased warrior’s combat experience, power, and abilities 468 |
| Banskana Zerg | Three-Headed Poison Scorpion; defensive and suppression unit | Durable green crystal armor, venomous tail, and a shared Crystal Domain that enhances surveillance, suppresses movement, and inflicts toxins 467 |
| Red-Armored Flying Ant | Ant-type assault unit | Cheap, numerous, and balanced in combat; commonly fielded as expendable cannon fodder 467 |
| Mi Star Butterfly | Reconnaissance / sentry unit | Possesses powerful stealth and detection abilities; even ordinary Immortals struggle to evade its perception 498 |
| Bud-Neck Zerg | Tiger Beetle Zerg branch | A heavily armored close-combat and meat-shield unit with strong defense, fast ground movement, and excellent vision for tracking rapid targets 580 |
Zerg Kings
Zerg Kings are created by allowing warriors to kill and devour one another until the strongest survivors emerge. A King is worth approximately one hundred ordinary warriors of the same type because its potential and immediate combat power have both been refined through repeated selection 468.
Two modern cultivation routes are recognized:
- Direct gestation — Produces warriors of the Mother Emperor’s rank quickly and efficiently, but with combat power below their potential peak.
- King cultivation — Uses repeated slaughter and selection to produce warriors whose potential and combat power are already near their peak 468.
Ancient King Legions
The ancient cultivation method develops an entire species collectively rather than only selecting individual Kings. Such a legion contains specialized soldiers, commanders, healers, messengers, engineers, and other roles, producing greater tactical variety than modern cultivation methods 468.
- Ancient King Legions are extremely resource-intensive; fewer than 10,000 are normally cultivated, and a 5,000-strong ancient legion could be replaced by at least thirty times as many modern King Zerg 468.
- Their collective development can result in Collective Sublimation: new group traits, abilities, or exceptional individuals that would not naturally appear in the base species 471.
- Fu’s Mantis-type Ancient King Legion contained fewer than 5,000 warriors but was strong enough to alarm another Mother Emperor 468.
Independent Consciousness
A Zerg warrior with independent consciousness is extraordinarily rare. Such a warrior can escape the ordinary fate of being controlled and consumed as part of a Mother Emperor’s breeding system 471 474.
- Jie, originally a Red-Armored Flying Ant, developed independent consciousness after devouring the remains of Mantis-type Kings and undergoing metamorphosis 474 475.
- An independent warrior is considered highly likely to become a Fengwang powerhouse and may have a substantial chance of reaching Universe Venerable level 475.
- After becoming intelligent, many such warriors cease to identify with ordinary Zerg, whose intelligence may be no greater than that of fierce beasts 499.
- Jie advanced from peak World Master to a lifeform nearing Fenghou Immortal within 3,000 years, aided by Fire Wish Trees; he later became an Immortal God with low-level Fenghou strength 498 531.
Nests
A Mother Emperor’s nest functions as a residence, defensive structure, production facility, war platform, and a means to conceal energy-law fluctuations. High-level nests can specialize warrior development and greatly affect a Mother Emperor’s cultivation efficiency 466 473 519.
The Zerg have researched 15,408 high-level nest construction types. Mother Emperors without an appropriate inheritance must build inferior versions, reducing both gestation quality and cultivation efficiency 519.
| Nest | Owner / user | Effects |
|---|---|---|
| Soul Garment Nest | Minglian | A high-level nest whose construction costs were funded by Zerg powerhouses because of Minglian’s talent 519 |
| Southern Cross Nest | Shimang | Highly compatible with Cross-Star-type Zerg warriors 520 |
| Star-Protrusion Nest | Wanaboni | Allows Star-type warriors to absorb cosmic rays to repair themselves and survive; three Star-type remains can be recycled into one new warrior 520 |
| Absolute Paradox Flame Nest | Used by Shimang | Rapidly extracts warrior potential and boosts power, but creates high consumption, instability, and a fast replacement rate 580 |
| Three-Prison Wind-Pole Nest | Chongyao | Deployed in battle to coordinate highly precise concentrated fire capable of shattering the Xinghan universe 803 |
| Refining-World Silent-Rain Nest | Chongyao | Established after the destruction of Xinghan during the conflict with the Monster Race alliance 803 |
Notable Zerg
- Fu — First Zerg Mother Emperor encountered in the Pantheon. She commanded Banskana Zerg, Red-Armored Flying Ants, and an Ancient King Mantis Legion; Guen later incapacitated her with a soul roar and sealed her, but she ultimately died 467 473 474.
- Milyu — Second Mother Emperor in the Pantheon. She temporarily aligned with Fu against Guen before their conflict escalated into a three-way battle 467 469 470.
- Jie — A former Red-Armored Flying Ant who gained independent consciousness, metamorphosed, and was enslaved by Guen 475.
- Shimang — One of three Mother Emperors enslaved by Guen. She possesses the Southern Cross Nest and later assists Guen in exploration and battle 509 520 569.
- Kelehe — One of Guen’s enslaved Mother Emperors. She requires the Zihou Illusion-Shattering Epiphyllum for nest construction and later commands warriors alongside Shimang 509 519 580.
- Wanaboni — One of Guen’s enslaved Mother Emperors. Her potential is considered exhausted; she later assists Moto with construction and repair work rather than frontline legion development 509 574.
- Minglian — A Zerg Queen and exceptional Beast God inheritance genius. Her rapid advancement prompted an assassination attempt by Venerable Qujuan, but Bilong intervened to save her 508 748.
- Bilong — A powerful Zerg master whose progress previously gave the Zerg combat power approaching that of a Universe Master; she protects Minglian through space-time manipulation 748.
- Chongyao — A Zerg Mother Emperor Venerable regarded as the Zerg’s foremost nest and warrior cultivator. She maintained a thousand high-tier Venerable-level warriors and thirty-six Universe Overlord-level warriors simultaneously 803.
- Snow-Staff Walker — A self-aware beetle Zerg warrior Venerable and Universe Overlord who guards Chongyao 803.
Story Role / Major Arcs
Trial Tower Swarm
A regulated Zerg Mother Nest serves as the fourth Trial Tower’s final threat, releasing Green Mantis and later Blood Mantis against Alingtu. The nest is unable to produce warriors indefinitely, instead gestating, storing, and deploying them in organized waves 165.
Gregory’s Espionage Network
A Zerg Mother Nest within Immortal God Gregory’s God Kingdom receives intelligence on Peak Genius Tournament participants through a fanatically loyal human World Master. It orders targeted assassinations after the selected geniuses enter Chaos City 207. Gregory is later publicly exposed as a Zerg spy and arrested by Chaos City’s First Law Enforcement Team 220.
Pantheon Battle
Fu and Milyu enter the Pantheon alongside Guen, where only one of the three participants can survive. Their arrival forces two of the rare Mother Emperors into conflict with one another while both initially prioritize eliminating Guen 467.
Fu’s superior swarm control, Banskana Crystal Domain, Red-Armored Flying Ant reserves, and Ancient King Legion make her the more organized combatant. Guen eventually disrupts the King Legion, defeats Fu’s soul technique with a soul roar, seals her, and survives the battle; Fu later dies, leaving the Desolate God Key and a field of surviving Zerg 469 473 474.
Jie's Metamorphosis
Following Fu’s death, an undamaged Red-Armored Flying Ant scavenges the remains of other warriors rather than merely repairing itself. Its independent consciousness emerges during metamorphosis, after which Guen enslaves and names it Jie 474 475.
Zerg Territory and Legion Cultivation
Guen enters Zerg territory disguised as an Immortal and observes its dormant warrior populations, resource systems, and border sentries. He later enslaves Shimang, Kelehe, and Wanaboni, intending to invest in and cultivate their legions 498 499 509.
Core-Region Conflict
Minglian’s rapid Beast God inheritance progress makes her a feared Zerg genius, resulting in an attempted assassination in the Ancestor God Secret Realm 748. Later, Chongyao deploys the Three-Prison Wind-Pole Nest and Refining-World Silent-Rain Nest against the Monster Race alliance, destroying the Xinghan universe in the process 803.
Trivia
- The Zerg have the fewest Mother Emperors among the sixteen strongest Core Land races 467.
- A World Master-level Mother Emperor’s nest has a minimum estimated value of about one million Hunyuan Units 474.
- The weakest documented Red-Armored Flying Ant is still a peak World Master and is worth five points as a kill, while a Zerg King is worth 500 points 474.
- Zerg and Machine Race legions differ fundamentally: machines offer stronger real-time calculation and can remain inactive at minimal cost, while Zerg warriors are living, adaptive units that can recycle corpses and continue being produced during battle 468 470.
