Background / History
The Monster Race is an ancient Core Lands power whose branches survived the great melee that erased many older races. Alongside the Kannavia Race and Banmu Race, it endured from that era into the present cosmic order. 598
Following the Blood Seed War, race and bloodline became the dominant basis of interstellar politics. The Monster Race was among the sixteen recognized strongest races to hold the main territories of the Core Lands. 453
It is regarded as a peak race alongside humanity, supported by its strongest beings: the Primal Ancestor and the Dream Demon Ancestor. The Primal Ancestor has been suppressed, while Dream Demon Ancestor remains an active strategic leader. 453 674
The race controls extensive territory west of humanity, making that direction particularly difficult for human expansion. Its territory includes the Bigu Secret Realm, widely recognized as Monster Race home turf. 402 602
Society and Culture
The Monster Race is not a uniform species. Its branches often have so little in common beyond being flesh-and-blood lifeforms that they may appear unrelated, producing a culture marked by strong bloodline consciousness and internal rivalry. 419 421
- It is described as more primitive and savage than human society, with an intense worship of strength. 421
- Bone ornaments and tattoo culture are favored decorations, reflecting a tradition of violent and primitive worship. 421
- Large physiques and disdain for clothing shaped its distinctive architecture. 421
- Its public knowledge is maintained through open “sea of books” repositories rather than a human-style Virtual Universe; advanced knowledge and secret methods remain privately controlled. 421
- Mixed-blood Monster Race individuals are difficult to conceive and are widely regarded as signs of misfortune or decay; many are killed at birth or forced into weak communities outside Monster Race territory. 421
- Internal friction is severe. Contradictions between branches can exceed those between humans and the Machine Race, weakening the race’s ability to act as a unified whole. 665 667
Social Classes
| Class | Description |
|---|---|
| Royal clans | Extremely rare—only around a dozen types—but each possesses exceptional innate abilities and influence. 403 |
| Noble clans | A recognized intermediate class within Monster Race hierarchy. 403 |
| Ordinary Monster Race | The broad mass of branches outside the higher bloodline classes. 403 |
| Vassal branches | Weaker groups attached to royal clans, such as the Buqi Shijing under the Sky Wolf lineage. 665 |
Branches and Biological Traits
| Branch | Known traits |
|---|---|
| Mohu Beast | Three-tailed, scaled branch with potential second only to Monster Race royalty. 398 |
| Zujia Ape | Possesses back defenses comparable to same-level defensive equipment. 398 |
| Huluo Beast | Has murky dark-green wings and a hard shell; skilled in illusions. 398 |
| Forest Blood Silver-toothed Wolf | A royal branch with an enormous divine body and blood-colored bone spikes that distribute received damage. 406 |
| Fire-Dazzle Horned Lizard | A royal branch whose spiral horn absorbs surrounding flames to restore injuries. 414 |
| Space-time Nightmare Beast | A powerful branch associated with space-time combat; its natural claws are more effective than conventional weapons. 403 425 |
| Light Ape | A combat-oriented branch; normal adults are approximately six meters tall. 421 425 |
| Sky Wolf | A major royal lineage with powerful King-level Immortals, extensive defenses, and allied branches. 665 667 |
Abilities and Combat Characteristics
Diverse Innate Talents
Monster Race branches possess radically different natural advantages. Some specialize in soul attacks, illusions, the Law of Time, Fire Origin Laws, physical combat, or spatial techniques. 419
- Many Monster Race Immortals study lesser categories of Teleportation, including Inanimate Object Teleportation, Spatial Flicker, and Spatial Burst. 402
- Certain gold-and-silver-eyed Immortals can suppress spatial change and distort an opponent’s perception of time flow. 402
- Royal branches are difficult to kill because of their innate talents, abundant treasures, and powerful divine bodies. 407
- Larger bodies provide a major advantage upon becoming Immortal Gods, as the one-time conversion into an Immortal divine body draws vast energy from the universe’s origin. 414
Natural-Weapon Combat
Monster Race combatants commonly turn their biological advantages into weapons rather than relying on separate armaments. 425
- Fire-Dazzle Horned Lizards use their horns as weapons. 425
- Light Apes excel in direct combat. 425
- Space-time Nightmare Beasts favor claw attacks. 425
- Claw coverings forged from precious materials are among the most common Monster Race weapons. 425
Immortal Military Lord Ranking
The Monster Race uses a four-tier standard for Immortal Military Lords, comparable in purpose to humanity’s Heavenly Bridge assessment. 403
| Rank | Human comparison |
|---|---|
| First-tier Immortal Military Lord | At least equivalent to comprehension of the fourteenth level of the human Heavenly Bridge. 403 |
| Second-tier Immortal Military Lord | Below first tier; the Forest Blood Silver-toothed Wolf is identified at this level. 403 |
| Third-tier Immortal Military Lord | Part of the Monster Race’s four-tier standard. 403 |
| Fourth-tier Immortal Military Lord | Part of the Monster Race’s four-tier standard. 403 |
Territories and Institutions
Bigu Secret Realm
The Bigu Secret Realm is a vast cosmic secret realm with a maximum diameter of 36,000 light-years. Its naturally nurtured treasures and resources draw powerhouses from across the universe, but it remains recognized as Monster Race home turf. 402
- Notable resources include the Luofu Lark Disk, Cold Owl Robe, Chihun Copper Mother, Soul Fusion Water, and Liweng Lotus. 402
- Its proximity to Monster Race territory gives local Monster Race Immortals a significant strategic advantage. 407
- The Crimson Stele, a specialty resource of the realm, can assist in comprehending laws. 405
Buqi Shijing Star Nation
The Buqi Shijing Star Nation is a royal Monster Race branch under Sky Wolf jurisdiction, located near the edge of Monster Race territory. 421
- Its border location and lack of full Virtual Universe coverage leave much of the region underdeveloped, though royal and imperial clans can still be found there. 421
- The Tianqu Imperial Guard serves as the Star Nation Lord’s army and consists of Immortal-level members. 421
- The nation holds a Flight Competition every epoch; winners may be selected by the Tianqu Imperial Guard. 421
Genius Selection System
Without humanity’s Virtual Universe, the Monster Race relies on layered regional competitions to identify and recruit talented members. 665
- Winners of lower-level contests receive access to higher-tier competitions. 665
- Universe-level and Domain Lord-level powerhouses oversee even low-level events, while Monster Race Kings and Universe Venerables may attend the highest-level competitions. 665
- The Lixuechuan Juelong Trial is a premier regional event jointly controlled by fifteen Monster Race royal clans. 665
- During wartime, stalled middle-tier competitions were supplemented by a reception system linking lower-level events with top-level selection. 665
Military Strength and Defenses
The Monster Race possesses slightly fewer Immortals than humanity, but maintains several thousand to nearly ten thousand King-level Immortals. Its Sky Wolf alliance contains only a small number of King Peak Immortals. 667
- The Sky Wolf territory deploys patrol teams, fishing teams, combat teams, King-level Immortals, and Universe Venerables to counter infiltrators. 667
- The Mengji Star is a Monster Race Supreme Treasure that produces light dust capable of sustaining group disguises for years and alerting users when they are observed. 667
- Monster Race forces can deploy Energy Capture Devices that create crimson storms, solidify local space-time, and trap even high-level Fenghou Immortals. 434 435
- Its defenses improved rapidly after human raids, making infiltration increasingly dangerous. 667
