World Item (Part 2)

After laughing for a while, the three of them began checking the information on the remaining items.

World Item: Eternal Seal

Can seal the activation effects of one type of magic or item. It can even seal the effects of World Items, but this item cannot be used again unless the seal is removed.

Cooldown: None.

"This item is a bit underwhelming. It's decent enough, but it doesn't have much value."

Herohero looked at the description before him, thought for a moment, and spoke somewhat hesitantly.

World Item holders already carried a buff that prevented them from being affected by the effects of other World Items, which made this item's main effect less useful than a passive ability.

It could only be called the most underwhelming World Item.

"I wouldn't put it that way. At the very least, it can be used on people without World Items to seal the World Item effects affecting them. It could still be useful at a critical moment."

Naiyuan refuted him. Though it seemed useless and not even as practical as a passive ability, it might still prove unexpectedly useful at a crucial moment.

"I think this item is very powerful. If someone activates a World Item with a massive range, or one that covers the entire world, we can use this item to stop it from activating. That's pretty good."

Momonga offered a different opinion as he looked at the two of them. This item was underwhelming against World Items activated by a single person, but it was quite good against World Items activated by multiple people.

"Now that you put it that way, that's true. If someone activates a World Item similar to Ragnarok, we can at least stop them."

Herohero and Naiyuan thought about it. The chances were slim, but it would still be nice to have a countermeasure if it ever really happened.

"As expected of Momonga, our Guildmaster. You really do think far ahead."

Herohero praised him. Naiyuan and he had only considered part of the issue, while Momonga had thought much further ahead than they had.

"Herohero, I'm not that amazing."

Hearing the praise, Momonga felt a little embarrassed. He scratched his smooth skull as he spoke.

"Since Herohero says so, Momonga, stop being modest."

Momonga said it was nothing special, but the amusement in his voice was impossible to hide. Naiyuan helplessly patted his spine.

"Since Naiyuan says so, all right."

"Momonga has gotten a lot more cheerful. Is that because of Naiyuan?"

Herohero asked curiously as he looked at the two of them.

Momonga had always had a decent personality, but he had never acted like this before. The only person who could have changed him was Naiyuan, who spent so much time with him.

"Yeah, though he does sometimes cause me some headaches."

Momonga nodded, then spoke with some exasperation. Looking at the carefree Naiyuan before him, he could not see even a trace of the way Naiyuan had acted during their earlier conversation, making him sigh.

"Listen, Herohero. Momonga may look indifferent, but he's actually a total tsundere."

Naiyuan smiled at Herohero and began talking about Momonga. Now that his worries were gone, he had become completely carefree.

"Naiyuan, you bastard!"

Watching Naiyuan whisper about him to Herohero, Momonga could do nothing about him. Or perhaps he was a little happy. The more Naiyuan acted like this, the more it showed that he had given up on suicide, and that allowed Momonga to rest easy.

All he needed to do next was help Naiyuan pay off his loans and find him a job. He wondered whether his company was still hiring. He would treat the department head to a meal tomorrow and ask.

Momonga lowered his head and began thinking about tomorrow's dinner.

"Hey, Momonga, it's time to look at the next item. Stop spacing out."

After finishing his conversation with Herohero, Naiyuan noticed Momonga lost in thought. He froze for a moment, then revealed a mischievous grin. While Herohero watched with a snicker, Naiyuan slowly moved to Momonga's ear, turned the system volume to maximum, and shouted.

"Ah!!"

The tremendous noise instantly snapped Momonga out of his thoughts, making him cry out.

"Naiyuan, you're so mean. You really gave Momonga quite a scare."

Herohero chuckled beside him. His Slime body trembled, making it clear that he was in a very good mood.

"Herohero, aren't you just as wicked? Otherwise, you wouldn't have stood there watching."

Naiyuan rolled his eyes at the pitch-black Slime. Their personalities were about evenly matched.

"You two... Hah! I'll let it slide this time, but I definitely won't let you off next time."

Momonga finally recovered. Looking at the two laughing before him, he sent an emoji. (Wrath)

Naiyuan and Herohero merely smiled and said nothing. His words had no deterrent effect at all. After knowing him for so long, they had long understood his personality. If he got angry so easily, he would not be Momonga.

"All right, all right. Hurry up and show Herohero the items. I'm planning to take everyone to the Throne Room for a look later."

Naiyuan smiled and patted Momonga and Herohero, pulling them to his side.

"Sure, but the next item is rather special. You could say it's the strongest World Item!"

Hearing that they would be going to the Throne Room later, Momonga calmed down and checked the next item. After all, they did not have much time left.

World Item: Ring of Eternal Snakes

Allows the user to make one request of the game's operators, or choose a World Item and copy its effect.

After use, it automatically disappears and randomly appears somewhere in the world.

It was only a short description, yet it was impossible to ignore.

"So it's this item. I remember our guild was once sealed off by an enemy guild using this item. Its effect was really powerful."

Herohero looked at the item in surprise. He was no stranger to it. After all, an enemy guild had once used it to lock down the world where Nazarick was located for an entire month, taking their mine in the process.

It had originally vanished into some corner of the Nine Worlds, yet it had somehow ended up in Nazarick in the end. Fate really was strange. (Note: The game was huge and had nine world maps.)

"Yeah. To be honest, I didn't expect it either. I was just out farming materials like usual, and I somehow picked up a World Item."

Naiyuan sighed helplessly, but the curve of his lips made it clear that he was putting on an act. His whole body seemed to be shouting, Praise me! Aren't I amazing? I'm just that awesome!

"Uh, though it happened a little differently, Naiyuan really did accidentally pick it up while he was out killing monsters."

Momonga looked speechlessly at the smug Naiyuan, but he still explained it to Herohero.

He had been jealous of Naiyuan's luck for a long time. Why hadn't he been the one to pick it up?

Momonga felt helpless. Was this the difference between a lucky player and an unlucky one?

"It was really true? Naiyuan, your luck is as good as ever."

Herohero was rather surprised. He had originally thought Naiyuan was joking. Who could pick up a World Item that easily? Did he think this was a novel?

Yet it turned out that Naiyuan really had picked it up. Herohero fell silent.

He raised his head and glanced at Momonga, who was also looking at him. The two unlucky players met each other's eyes, then lowered their heads again.

So I was the clown all along?
