In the Hokage's office, the Third Hokage set down the document in his hand and took a deep puff from his pipe. He closed his eyes and pondered for a while before opening them again, slowly exhaling a cloud of smoke.
To be fair, the Third Hokage was deeply surprised. He hadn't expected an Uchiha brat who seemed so ordinary to shine so brightly.
If he hadn't had such faith in Konoha's mission assessments and intelligence system, and if he hadn't trusted the person who had submitted the report, he would have thought the intelligence was fake.
Hatake Kakashi was undoubtedly a genius who never ceased to amaze, but compared with this Uchiha brat, he seemed far more ordinary.
Most importantly, the boy had awakened with a Three Tomoe Sharingan. Not only had the Uchiha Clan likely never heard of such a thing, but neither had the Third Hokage, who had witnessed nearly all of Konoha's growth.
The Third Hokage had no idea how far the boy would go. He had other things to worry about—namely, that brat Kakashi.
The Uchiha were truly a bunch of lunatics. Besides Uchiha Kei awakening his Sharingan, another brat had awakened his too: Kakashi's teammate, Uchiha Obito.
The boy had died soon after awakening it. For the Third Hokage, that was a piece of "good news" that couldn't be spoken aloud.
During wartime, it was dangerous to think that way. Every Ninja was an important force defending Konoha, but there were other, less obvious considerations as well.
But if you were going to die, why did you have to give your eye to Kakashi?
As a gift for Kakashi becoming a Jonin?
