Interception (Seeking Subscription~)

Shisui stared at Kisame beside him, his gaze utterly indifferent, yet beneath that indifference, other emotions seemed to be quietly brewing.

Konoha sending a team to find them had caught them somewhat by surprise, but it was hardly unimaginable.

After all, they had captured a Jinchuriki. Even if it was the One-Tail, considered the weakest among the Tailed Beasts, it was still a strategic weapon. For such a weapon to be intercepted and captured by a terrifying organization—one of the greatest threats to the Ninja World—it was only natural for Konoha to mobilize.

There was no question that Shisui was loyal to Konoha. Even though he had joined Akatsuki and spent nearly ten years undercover, what he cared about most in his heart was still everything in Konoha.

If he went alone to intercept those approaching Konoha Ninja, he could handle every problem with ease. He could even conduct a test.

He trusted Kakashi, but he did not dare let the other team members casually run straight to Orochimaru.

He would test them—see whether their abilities were up to standard, whether they could hold out against the joint assault of Orochimaru and Sasori until Kakashi and the others arrived!

That was right. Without knowing exactly who the other side was, that was his only thought regarding this team.

Only if they could withstand him would Shisui let them pass. Otherwise, going there would only mean throwing their lives away.

So, he should handle this alone. That way, no matter what he did, it would be fine. He even had plenty of reasons and methods to either drive them away or let them through, and at least their lives would not be endangered.

But Kisame's sudden interference truly infuriated him. Once this guy got involved, things would probably become exceptionally troublesome.
