A few mornings later, Teacher Ibuki stood at the lectern, his expression a little more serious than usual.
"Quiet down, I have something to announce."
The classroom gradually quieted, and the children all looked up at him.
Teacher Ibuki cleared his throat: "Today, we're going to have a new classmate in our class."
A wave of whispers immediately rippled through the classroom.
"A new classmate?"
"Coming at this time?"
"Is it a boy or a girl?"
Shin-chan tilted his head and nudged Uchiha Toru beside him.
"Xiao Che, why is there a new classmate?"
Uchiha Toru thought for a moment and shook his head: "I don't know. Konoha only has one Ninja Academy, I haven't heard of any Another Place."
"Then where is he from?"
"Maybe he's from another Village?" Uchiha Toru wasn't too sure, "But people from other Villages usually don't transfer to Konoha..."
As the two were whispering, Teacher Ibuki had already nodded towards the door.
"You can come in."
The door opened.
A boy walked in.
He was a little taller than most of the children in the class, wearing a yellow long-sleeved shirt and green shorts, but he was neatly dressed.
The most striking thing was below his nose, where a shiny snot hung, swaying with his every step.
The classroom fell silent for a second.
Then someone chuckled softly.
But the boy seemed to hear nothing, his expression unchanged, and he walked straight to the side of the lectern, facing everyone.
"Introduce yourself," Teacher Ibuki said.
The boy nodded and began to speak.
"My name is Adai."
The voice was flat, with no inflection.
Then it stopped.
The classroom was quiet for another two seconds.
Teacher Ibuki waited for a moment, and finding that he really wasn't going to say anything else, he coughed lightly, "Uh... Adai, where do you live, and what are your hobbies?"
"Another Place."
"What place?"
"Faraway Place."
Teacher Ibuki's mouth twitched.
Whispers started again below.
Shin-chan's gaze fell on the dangling snot.
"Xiao Che."
"Hm?"
"His snot is so long."
Uchiha Toru glanced over and nodded, "Yeah, it's quite long."
"Will it go into his mouth?"
"Probably... not?"
"What if it goes into his mouth?"
Uchiha Toru thought for a moment, imagined the scene, and couldn't help but shiver, "Don't say any more."
On the lectern, Teacher Ibuki gave up on further questioning and scanned the classroom, looking for an empty seat.
Adai also scanned the classroom, his gaze passing over unfamiliar faces.
"Adai, you can sit over there for now." Teacher Ibuki pointed to the row behind Shin-chan.
Adai nodded and walked over slowly.
As he passed Shin-chan, he looked down.
Shin-chan happened to look up, meeting his gaze.
The two looked at each other for a second.
"Hello," Shin-chan waved at him.
Adai froze for a moment, didn't respond, just silently looked away and continued walking forward, sitting down in the back row.
Teacher Ibuki began the lecture.
He was teaching the basic application of Chakra. They had covered some last time, so today was a review and deeper dive.
After lecturing for a while, he suddenly stopped and looked towards the back row.
"Adai, can you understand what was just taught?"
Adai looked up at him.
"Yes."
Teacher Ibuki was a little surprised.
This child had just arrived and hadn't even finished a full class, and he claimed to understand?
"Then tell me, what is the basic principle of Chakra refinement?" Teacher Ibuki decided to test him.
Adai stood up and answered expressionlessly, "It is refined by mixing Body Energy and Mental Energy. The ratio between the two varies from person to person and can be adjusted through training."
Teacher Ibuki was stunned.
The answer was completely correct.
"What is most important for Chakra control?"
"The most important thing for Chakra control is stability. No matter how much Chakra is refined, if it cannot be controlled stably, it cannot be used effectively. The core of stability is the balance between Mental and Body Energy."
Adai's voice remained flat.
"Furthermore, different Chakra natures require different control methods. It is not recommended to attempt nature transformation before mastering basic control."
The Classroom fell silent.
Teacher Ibuki opened his mouth, not knowing what to say for a moment.
Where did this child come from?
He glanced at the transfer records in his hand. It only stated "previously homeschooled," with no other information.
"Cough, cough." Teacher Ibuki coughed dryly. "Very good, Adai, you have a solid grasp. Sit down."
Adai nodded and sat down, but his gaze drifted forward again, towards the front row.
The child in Red Clothes was lying on the table, as if about to fall asleep.
The dismissal bell rang.
The classroom became lively.
Several curious classmates gathered around Adai, wanting to talk to him.
"Adai, were you really self-studying at home before?"
"Mm."
"Where do you live?"
"Very far."
"Are your parents ninjas?"
"Don't know."
After asking a few questions, everyone found that this person spoke like squeezing toothpaste, answering only when asked and not saying anything otherwise, and every sentence was pitifully short.
What made them even more speechless was the snot hanging below his nose, swaying back and forth, refusing to drip.
Someone couldn't help but ask, "Aren't you going to wipe your nose?"
Adai looked down at below his nose, then looked up and said expressionlessly, "No need."
"Wh... why?"
"It'll go back by itself."
The people around him fell silent.
They silently watched the snot, waiting to see how it would "go back by itself."
After a while.
After another while.
The snot still hung there, swaying back and forth, showing no intention of going back.
Some people started to back away.
"Uh... I just remembered I have something to do..."
"Me too, I need to go to the toilet..."
"Let's go together..."
Soon, a circle cleared around Adai.
He didn't seem to mind, just sat there, his gaze fixed ahead, lost in thought.
The After School bell rang.
Shin-chan stretched, stood up to pack his things, and glanced back as he turned his head.
His gaze met Adai's.
They stared at each other for another second.
Shin-chan blinked. "Your name is Adai, right?"
"Mm."
"Your Nose." Shin-chan pointed below his own Nose. "Do you have a cold?"
Adai shook his head. "No."
"Then why is it always running?"
Adai was silent for two seconds.
"Don't know."
Shin-chan tilted his head, thought for a moment, then pulled a crumpled tissue from his pocket and handed it to him.
"Here."
Adai stared at the tissue, stunned.
Shin-chan pushed the tissue forward. "Want to wipe it?"
Adai slowly reached out and took the tissue.
"Thanks."
Shin-chan had already turned and run out.
"See you tomorrow."
Adai stood in place, looking down at the tissue in his hand.
It was crumpled and warm.
