"You're back!"
The door to the Nohara House was flung open, and Shin-chan's voice rang through the whole house.
Miya poked her head out of the kitchen. "I'm the one who's back..."
She stopped halfway through her sentence, stunned.
There was only one shoe kicked off in the genkan. The little red figure had already disappeared.
"That boy." Miya sighed, shook her head, and went back to cooking.
Meanwhile, Shin-chan was crouching in the yard.
"Shiro."
The little white dog came out from a corner and ran over to him, wagging his tail.
"Woof!"
Shin-chan crouched down, his expression suddenly serious.
"Shiro, today I'm going to teach you something really important."
Shiro tilted his head and looked at him.
"Sit."
Shiro obediently sat down.
"Not like that." Shin-chan thought for a moment. "Sit like a person."
Shiro tilted his head, not understanding.
Shin-chan sat cross-legged on the ground and patted his legs.
"Like this. Cross your back legs, and put your front legs on your knees."
Shiro looked down at his legs, then up at Shin-chan, his eyes full of confusion.
Still, he tried his best.
He splayed his back legs out to the sides and stretched his front legs forward. His bottom rested on the ground. The pose looked a little strange, but it did sort of resemble sitting cross-legged.
Shin-chan nodded in satisfaction.
"Great. Now listen."
Shiro stayed in that pose and looked at him attentively.
"Today at school, I met a big sister," Shin-chan began. "She had a dog named Shiromaru."
Shiro's ears twitched.
"That dog can use Ninjutsu." Shin-chan's expression turned wistful. "He's really amazing."
Shiro blinked.
"So I've decided." Shin-chan clenched his fist. "I'm going to teach you Ninjutsu too!"
