Background / History

Shiro is the Nohara family’s small white dog and Shin-chan’s constant companion. Before learning chakra, he was already notably obedient and responsive to commands such as “Marshmallow,” curling himself into a fluffy ball on cue. Kakashi considers him smart, loyal, and unusually attuned to people. 30 58

After Shin-chan sees Inuzuka Kanon’s ninja dog, he resolves to make Shiro a ninja as well. Shiro eagerly attempts chakra refinement despite being unable to form hand seals with his paws. Adai explains that hand seals are only a focus aid and instructs Shiro to practice sensing chakra directly. 53 54 55

Shiro eventually refines chakra and demonstrates wall-walking to the Nohara family. Hiroshi proposes taking him to school, and Teacher Ibuki accepts him into Class A after seeing his chakra control. 57 58

During the Land of Hot Water escort mission, Shiro hears an injured puppy behind a wall and uses chakra to investigate, bringing Shin-chan to help it. Soon afterward, Shiro disappears and is taken into the Dog Clan’s conflict with the Cat Clan. 111 112

Because he is pure white and possesses chakra, Gray Ridge attempts to use Shiro as a replacement prince for the Dog Clan; the actual prince, Kogoro, has chosen to live among humans. Black Fang tries to control Shiro as a figurehead, but Shiro immediately responds to Shin-chan’s call and chooses him over the Clan’s leadership. 117 119
