The Metal Corridor that once trapped Sun Jack was now completely twisted and deformed. The impact force of the Space Station landing must have been immense, with burn marks visible in many places.
Various parts that had been floating in the air were now scattered on the ground, including the Robots. They looked severely damaged, lying in pieces everywhere.
Rainwater dripped continuously from the cracks, and puddles were beginning to form on the ground.
Sun Jack, having survived, moved through the wreckage of the space station with his Robot Taipai, intending to leave the area quickly and evade the approaching maniacs.
However, their speed was clearly not enough. A roaring sound came from above Sun Jack's head as a spaceship broke through the rain and fog, heading towards them.
The spaceship looked like an oversized, wheel-less supercar, covered all over with exaggerated graffiti. What shocked Sun Jack even more was that a rotting corpse, with its arms spread wide, was tied to the front of the ship.
Sun Jack wasn't mistaken; it was a corpse! Maggots were already starting to breed in the bullet holes on its face!
At this moment, Sun Jack had a whole new understanding of the Cyber Maniac Taipai had mentioned. No matter what, he absolutely did not want to be discovered by such a person.
"Quick! Hide!" Sun Jack quickly pulled Taipai behind a piece of metal wreckage for cover.
After the ship with the corpse quickly flew past, another, very dilapidated helicopter arrived.
About ten meters above the ground, the helicopter's cabin door suddenly opened, and a man with a Cockscomb Head, covered in Skull Tattoos, holding a gun in each hand, leaped out.
Mid-air, he pulled the trigger, firing wildly in all directions, letting out a mad laugh from his mouth full of Gold Teeth. "Hahaha! nunarjuaq tittinaqtillugu!!!"
As he got closer, Sun Jack suddenly noticed that the man's legs and feet were clearly silver – they were prosthetics.
With a dull thud, the Cockscomb Head landed heavily on the ruins of the space station. Immediately after, several people with similar appearances jumped out of a Hovercar.
Conversations drifted over from their direction, but Sun Jack couldn't understand a word.
"What are they saying?" Sun Jack whispered to Taipai.
"Connect to the Regional Net, synchronize positioning, and deploy all Drones! Something this big falling down must have good stuff inside! Hurry up! Everyone else is rushing this way; if you're slow, you won't even get the broth."
But before Taipai could finish translating, a cannonball from who-knows-where shot up with a trail of smoke, directly turning the spaceship in the sky into a fireball.
"Damn! They're fighting without a word! They're really maniacs!" Using the explosion as cover, Sun Jack and Taipai quickly moved away from the blast site.
The atmosphere in the entire space station wreckage began to heat up. With the sound of explosions, more and more people flew in, turning the entire ruin into a battlefield.
"Boom~!" Another explosion sounded, and a massive fireball descended from the sky, narrowly missing the two of them.
Danger lurked everywhere, and Sun Jack's nerves were on edge. Looking at the surroundings, he couldn't help but feel bitter. Why am I so unlucky? Trouble finds me everywhere.
"Taipai, are there any weapons nearby?" Sun Jack asked. In this situation, being unarmed would leave them completely at the mercy of others.
The screen on Taipai's face flickered, and it walked towards the wreckage on the left. "Yes, this way is the security room."
After searching through the wreckage for a while, Taipai handed a gray, metallic rifle to Sun Jack.
"What is this?" Sun Jack hefted the heavy, cold weapon in his hand.
"Model: SOR-11:3 Technical Assault Rifle, electric powered."
"How do I use it?" Looking at the killing weapon in his hand, Sun Jack's breathing quickened.
"Hold it steady with both hands, brace this part here, then aim at the enemy and pull the trigger. In this kind of street fighting environment, there's no time for you to aim. Whoever shoots first has the advantage. The adjustable sights on this gun are perfect for beginners."
Sun Jack tried mimicking the movements a few times. The heavy weapon in his hand gave him some peace of mind. However, even though he now had a weapon, he still didn't want to use it.
"Let's go. How much longer until we get out of this Space Station's range?"
"According to my radar and current speed, it'll be about twenty minutes until we're out of the outermost perimeter."
But before he could finish speaking, with a whoosh, Sun Jack felt a heat on his left ear, followed by numbness.
"Enemy attack." Before Sun Jack could react, the blue display screen on Taipai's head instantly turned red, and he rapidly pulled the trigger towards the direction the projectile came from.
"Holy crap!" Sun Jack, clutching his ear, moved towards the nearby cover. When he lowered his hand again, his palm was already stained red with blood.
A semicircle had been shot off the top of his left ear. If it had been even slightly off, his head would have been blown clean off!
Gritting his teeth, Sun Jack cautiously poked his head out from behind cover, looking at the enemy who had just ambushed him.
These people were hiding behind cover, shooting at Taipai. They looked like gang members. They had many tattoos on their faces and hands, all sorts of designs, and they were spewing curses he couldn't understand.
The only common mark was the Inverted Cross brand on their necks.
Even more peculiar was that, like the ones who had jumped from the Hovercars earlier, these people had some Metal Prosthetic parts on their bodies, more or less.
When he saw the bullets they fired hitting Taipai and sparking, Sun Jack immediately raised his gun, propped it on a slanted fire-resistant Metal Plate, and fired back rapidly.
The recoil caused Sun Jack's first few shots to go into the sky. But Taipai had been right earlier; this gun was indeed very beginner-friendly. In no time, one of the enemy's heads was hit, snapping backward.
Killing someone for the first time in this situation, Sun Jack couldn't afford any psychological pressure. In this kind of situation, it was either them or him. He wished he could kill a few more.
"Taipai!! Find cover!" Sun Jack shouted to the Robot beside him.
Taipai, riddled with bullet holes all over his body, saw that Sun Jack was temporarily safe and quickly retreated to his side.
"Boom!" A violent explosion sounded, throwing both of them behind the cover into disarray.
"Their firepower is too strong! We can't handle them! Let's find a chance to retreat quickly!" The noisy environment forced Taipai to raise his voice.
"Nonsense! Of course, I know that, but in this situation, how do we leave!!" Sun Jack said, firing a burst of bullets. Turning and running now would be pure suicide.
But continuing to fight was also not an option. The enemy, seeing that there were only two of them, had already started splitting up to flank them.
As Sun Jack, burning with anxiety, desperately thought about what he should do, intense gunfire erupted from the Ruins to his left.
Hearing the gunshots, Sun Jack immediately had an idea. "Taipai! Let's retreat that way and let them fight each other like dogs! We'll take the opportunity to escape!"
"Will that work?"
"Didn't you say their brains aren't all that good? Now's the time to test if that's true! Besides, do you have a better plan right now?"
As he spoke, Sun Jack began to retreat while pulling the trigger.
After a brief few minutes, the gunshots behind them grew closer. However, Sun Jack could still see figures in the Ruins out of the corner of his eye, and the two sides still hadn't started fighting each other.
It was as if they had a tacit understanding, each firing their own shots.
Somewhat flustered, Taipai leaned towards Sun Jack. "I told you this wouldn't work. They're crazy, but they're not stupid."
Sun Jack nodded in strong agreement. "Exactly, so at this point, we need a bait to make them shoot each other."
After saying that, Sun Jack looked at Taipai beside him and patted him firmly on the shoulder as if valuing him greatly.
A new image quickly appeared on Taipai's display. "⚆_⚆"
