It was early morning, time for the corrupted orcs to head out hunting once again.
But compared to their lives near the Spine of the World, hunting on the High Glacier was more than an order of magnitude harder. Not only had the available prey plummeted, but the monsters and competitors they faced had become far more dangerous as well.
The reason they could still maintain such considerable—indeed, terrifying—numbers might instead be thanks to the corruption of the Abyssal Will.
Corrupted, the orcs gained some of the traits of demons. Even going without food for long periods would not endanger their lives.
One had to know that monks could only obtain [Immortal Body] after reaching level 15 through meditation and cultivation, merging with "qi." From then on, they no longer needed food and no longer aged naturally.
But everything gained too easily in this world came with a price.
Though the corrupted orcs could go without food for extended periods like high-level monks, they still suffered the torment of hunger like ordinary living creatures.
It was a dreadful torment that kept one forever teetering at the edge of agony, as though hunger itself were digesting and devouring one's body. Under that unending torture, a life could gradually descend into a madness that destroyed and consumed all things.
And it was precisely because of that instinctive "greed" that these corrupted orcs ate almost anything—and dared to eat almost anything—when they failed to catch prey.
Uh, they probably still could not eat dirt and chew ore like dragons. That would make it easy to fail at solving the hunger problem while earning themselves an intestinal blockage instead.
But today seemed somewhat unusual. Just as the corrupted orcs gathered in groups to leave their tribe, the prey tied to the ground awaiting slaughter
